Interpretation wasn't his point.  He was saying that most religious people are hypocrital, because they claim to follow Christian teachings yet many times do the opposite, probably without even realizing sometimes.  For example... The Bible says homosexual activity is an abomination and that those who engage in that behavior be put to death.  It also says you cannot mix cotton and linen, and that if you work on the Sabbath you be stoned to death.  How many Christians in westernized civilization approve of stoning people to death for working on Sunday or killing homosexuals?  Essentially none.

If someone says they believe in the Bible literally, then they are either criminally insane, or they've never actually read the Bible.

For example, this ignorant junk above. Yes the bible says homosexuality (like many other sexual sins, e.g. sex with your parents) is an abomination onto the Lord, and those who practice homosexuality or any other sin will be put to death,...the part you don't understand or where your ignorance comes in is that, you don't understand that God is our only judge and Jesus died for all our sins, including Homosexuality.

So, I, you, or no other person has the right to condem or judge a Homosexualy person or any other sinner. The most we can do is tell them about how God wants them to live, and they either accept that or not. God, not any man, then does the judging of that person at their death.

As an example, in the Bible a woman was caught in adultery, then the Jewish ignorants brought her to Jesus to be stoned to death, but Jesus said, he who is without sin cast the first stone. Essentially Jesus was showing in principle no man or woman has any right WHATSOVER to judge another person - it is only God that judges, for only he is perfect. And to hammer home the point, Jesus himself being perfect and sinless also did not condem or judge the woman - what he did however was told her to go her way and sin no more, he forgave her of her sin - and was later himself put to death, by the Jewish ignorants, for this and other reasons.

People in these threads always take much less than half an understanding of the Bible and think they know the whole story or the whole truth about the Bible, but you don't.

You have completely misunderstood my point.  I'm not a religious person, and I don't condemn homosexual behavior.  I was pointing out the hypocrisy of people who say they believe everything they read in the Bible, yet when examples like homosexuality are brought up, those parts are cast off as old-fashioned and no longer apply because "times have changed".

You're mixing old and new testaments. Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. Jesus taught us to love each other.

The Old Testament served its purpose before Jesus arrived. Now it is a historical document that is most important for it's prophecy of the messiah.

Jesus arrived and updated God's word. The New Testament is the replacement for the outdated Torah. The Old Testament says to stone, Jesus says not to throw stones. That's not a contraction, it's a correction. The Torah/Old Testament is full of misinterpretations because all of it comes second or third hand while Jesus' word is God's word.

Christians who judge others for their sins are mistakenly focusing on the Old Testament when they should just consider to what Jesus said.

Its so tempting... but i wont.

The Devil tempts,...anyways, go right ahead and make your comment, so that people like myself that do know something about the Bible can expose your ignorance, in a Godly way of course

Do you know the debate i was in on the other thread? I'm not really into having it all over again. People saying i come in here just to attack their faith and all that... in a videogame forum no less. I must be terribly devious.

I will just joke about it. You wanna know my logic, read it there.

Though i have to admit, someone coming to update sounds alot like a company updating their software code to do new things doesnt it? Fix the bugs and add all new functionalities? Religion is a complicated thing. :)

I didn't pick-up on your comments in earlier debates, nonetheless, when discussing Religion, especially Christianity and the Bible, people in these forums, I THINK, tend to fall generally into one of two categories, (1) Hightly Ignorant or (2) Fairly Knowledgeable. Based on your comments above, I can assume which one of those categories you fall head first into.

Anyways, the important part in Kain's response above that your ignorance has blinded you to is that "The Torah/Old Testament is full of misinterpretations because all of it comes second or third hand while Jesus' word is God's word." See, God's word was not updated because it was wrong, or had bugs in it, - rather, he updated his word because people misunderstood it and were applying it wrongly. So Jesus came and simplified things for us dumb humans. For example, take the first 4 of the 10 Commandments - Jesus said those can be simplified into just one, i.e. Love God. Take the latter 6 of the 10 Commandments and Jesus simplified those as well by saying, Love your Fellow Man.

It's like trying to teach Quantum Theory to bummies, the dummies didn't understand, so a new teacher was sent to explain just plain old Physics.

And to hmmer home the point, Jesus said "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets (i.e. the Old Testiment); I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

You feel discrminated against? lol, That's just your ignorance in knowing absolutely nothing valuable about the Bible. Your ignorance is so telling, that you're here discussing a religious topic as if you're having a computer software debabte - pure ignorance. Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge)

Just ask yourself, how much knowlege do you have about the Bible.

Ah... as always religious people show their colours. Believe what i say or you get discriminated.Social pressure ftw!

lets see the definition of software bug: A software bug is an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bug

I happen to be immune to that though, so it reflects back to you. What you said in no way disproved what i said, you contradicted yourself and confirmed it (compare underlined, where you say its not the same thing and bold where you say exactly what it is. Cause and effect nexus crumbled by religion! Its the power of god folks!). But again im not gonna bother having the same debate again. You believe what you want.

You feel discrminated against? lol, That's just your ignorance in knowing absolutely nothing valuable about the Bible. Your ignorance is so telling, that you're here discussing a religious topic as if you're having a computer software debabte - pure ignorance. It's like having a videogames discussion and all you can talk about is the Bible - pure ignorance.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge)

Just ask yourself, how much knowlege do you have about the Bible.

The bible contains no knowledge. Arrogance and delusional beliefs are side effects though.

Someone crying and making stuff up on vgchartz?

"The bible contains no knowledge."

That's why millions of people follow it and thouands research it on it's culture and historial understandings.

Please go to doctor because I feel like you have the case of butthurt with a side of lack of ability to discuss like human.

Please if your going to say something dumb please don't leave yourself open to show how little you actually know it will help!

Happyd and I have started our work on one last week. I have a basic idea of how Ai want it but it will take a bit of work.

ok that's cool

Well... if you look at the average wedding ceremony you make a vow to God to be faithful to this person and stay with them through sickness and health till "death do you part."

So.... I can see why a church would see that as a pretty bad sin.

Well, according to the Christian religion only something like 0.003% of people are allowed in heaven anyway, so I say you go back and get yourself some damn coffee.

Where'd you hear that one?

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
