The idea that the consumer is to blame for this, after being specifically told that they would have no problems, is insane. The consumer IS NOT responsible for the quality of the product they buy at retail, the DEVELOPER is. The thought that anyone would side with Bethesda on this is sickening.
While I don't believe that anyone should boycott a game that is only being published by Bethesda, I certainly wouldn't blame anyone from shying away from anything with the Bethesda name on it, especially those who don't really read gaming news sites. That brand erosion is solely on Bethesda's head.
Personally, I love Bethesda games. I'll take Fallout 3 and Fallout NV over almost anything, though I will never buy anything from them on anything except PC. However, people have every right to feel angry and betrayed, because they were definitely misled.
Pete Hines said, "We've never blamed anyone or anything. It's our problem, and it's on us to solve it," and he's absolutely right. Blaming the consumer is ludicrous, and blaming Sony for another developer's work is silly. Yes, the problem is with the PS3's RAM, but the fault is with those who released a product that would not work well with known specifications.
