I'm actually interested in W8 Pro tablets early next year. USB3.0, i5 processor and god knows how much ram. I might get a tablet around march. New androids and iPad4, but I'm still leaning towards the Surface Pro, hope Sony makes those aswel.

When does the Windows surface tablet supposed to come out? I will probably wait for one of those to buy one.
Glad to see Sony doing some Win8 tablets, these are excellent yet but we could Sony/Vaio doing some great ones down the line.
Also great for MS, more partners is more potential revenue.

Microsoft has a got a massive 2 years of revenue ahead. Nextbox, Windows 8 and Windows 8 hardware. Sony could ride that wave with some decent offereings. They need to get it right. These two products look nice but are a bit too niche perhaps? That tap 20 is a crazy thing, Its almost a windows 8 coffee table! lol. I love it. |
Yeah definetly, I would just like to see a normal W8 Pro tablet from Sony with the thin keyboard/cover thing.

So is the general consensus not to currently invest in an Android tablet and/or phone and wait for W8 supported models?

Dont bother with Android or even iPad at this point. Windows 8 x86 are huge upgrade compared to those. Im waiting till early next year, by then Haswell proccesor will be out and tablets with 4gb ram will be less expensive. Till then iPad 3 is good enough but cant wait for Windows 8 tablets.
Nexus 7 is great if you want a small tablet. If you want a bigger one I'd consider W8 tablets as the only option. I don't know why would anyone buy an Ipad.
I don't like the new Metro Interface on phones and PC's, but it may be quite good for tablets. Hopefully Sony makes a good W8 tablet, I'd buy it to replace my laptop.
So far the Surface looks much better than any other Windows 8 Tablets that I've seen.
Possibly one of the dumber questions i've asked, but what sort of desktop software is compatible with these W8 tablets, because they all seem to have a lot of power under the hood compared to the average tablet. I'm assuming we won't be seeing programs like Steam running on them? These could be more of a threat to laptops than to the iPad, unless of course future iPads are just Macbooks with a capacitive screen, then you'll just have the current dichotomy of PC and Mac repeat itself in tablet form.
