Homosexuality is through choice I think, definitely not through genes! Although your environment may be apart of it. People are gay because they choose, we should just accept that

You don't choose who you're attracted to.

Exactly.. you just ARE... and why is it only interesting when it is about homosexuals?.. you don't see anyone striking the topic of "What causes someone to like fat people?" the list can go on.. and why is the OP's topic more valid than that question? (hint.. it isn't)

There is no question as to why some are attracted to fat people. Several studies have confirmed that people are attracted to fat people because fat people provide mo' cushion for the pushing.

Seriously though, I think the topic is interesting because there's no consensus in the scientific community. Sense humans by nature are curious, it makes sense to wonder about this. As long as no one is offensive or unruly, then I think the discussion is fine. There's been some pretty interesting responses so far too.

But thats where i think it gets weird though... (i mean the world is weird, nothing to do with any specific person)

"there's no consensus in the scientific community" about gays.
Has there been studies of why a heterosexual man is attracted to females. Or is that just 'as it should be'?

when you stray from the norm you get interesting to pick apart and at.
But why isn't it equally interesting to lets say for the sake of it, study why a man would like a skinny woman.
I think it is more interesting to discuss why we have the ideal that 'this is the way it is supposed to be' other then try to ask 'what causes someone to not do as they are ment to' if you get what I'm saying.

The question "what causes homosexuality" makes it sound like it is a disese to some extent, dont you think? :)

1.) As for why men are attracted to women, there's been a lot of studies on that. For example, things like wide hips, rounder breasts, etc suggest that a woman is fertile, which makes her attractive. However, there aren't yet any definitive explanations for homosexuality.

2.) That's more of a sociological question imo, and I'm not really interested in asking that. But there's nothing stopping you from asking that if you're interested in it.

3.) I don't think so. If you're like a lot of psychologists, then there's a cause for every human behavior or mental process. So when something new or unique happens, naturally you're going to be interested in that cause. There's no reason to think of it as a disease or disorder. Just think of it as any human behavior.

I made a thread like this years ago. come up with something orginal. hahaha

There isn't any proof of any genetic genes and everyone who has tried has been shot down.

So, I will go with environment/ psychological reasoning as no one seems to have a problem with the idea in the science community.

That's all.

At the same time though, there's no proof that it's environmental/pyshcological. Just saying.

Also, there's been evidence that supports biological causes (though not genetic). For example, there's a correlation with homosexuality and the number of older brothers a person has. The more brothers, the more likely a child will be gay. Scientists say as more babies use a woman's womb, the more the womb changes in a way that increases the chances of homosexuality. I'm not sure what causes this, but it's worth considering.

I didn't say what features are attractive, but more like why at all. And i think it all comes down to that if you think the features of a man in general is more attractive than the features of a woman (that you still find attractive) you might be bi-sexual.

And if the woman features does nothing for you at all whilst the male features does it, yer' probably a bit homosexual..
imo. not that much science and witchcraft and more about individual preference. Atleast thats what i belive in.

A very interesting talk :) but i need to go to bed for work tomorrow.
take care dude. perhaps we will meet in other posts :)
