What Sony should've said: you can't judge it until you try it.

@Sony: fair enough, we'll mourn it later!

j/k!!! I wish Vita the best, it's the only portable I tried that I really like (I liked the games also of other portables, and that is the most important thing, but it's not enough, I didn't like their controls and, in the very ancient ones, neither their screens).

I don't know anymore. LBPV is having some great sales, but it didn't push any hardware. I'm afraid it'll be the same for AC unless it's given LOT of praise and a lot of promotion, leaving only 1 or 2 games capable of pushing a significant amount of hardware - Persona 4 and maybe COD.

Black Friday hasn't hit yet. I think each of these game's selling power could escalate once the "Christmas Season Sellouts" start. Many could be holding out to get this stuff as Christmas presents and Black Friday is the season even to buy hardware.

Best case for Vita: holidays boost its sales enough to grant decent 3rd party support and Sony can successively cut its price in 2013 to keep its sales decent, without needing to hurry or to take additional measures.
Worst case for Vita: holidays boost is modest, so that Sony needs to take additional mesures to make HW base reach the critical mass that triggers the release of more and bigger 3rd party games outside of Xmas season. Such measures would probably require up to repeating a launch campaign, maybe even redesigned unit and obviously the price cut. And moneyhatting 3rd parties for some big exclusives.

I wonder what excuse sony will give us after this christmas if it is not doing better... Wonder if they will keep pretending that the sales are on par with their expectation.

Personaly, I dont see the vita doing much better during christmas. But I think Nintendo lost a great opportunity to put the last nail in the Vita's coffin. The 3DS has more than a lackluster lineup for this holiday season... No Luigi's Mansion, no Animal Crossing... Only Paper Mario and Professor Layton, I know they are focussing on the Wii U but they could of pulled a fatality move on the Vita if it had a lineup as good as last year's holiday. So Vita still have a chance but I dont see it doing MUCH better and I think that it will once again completly lose it's momentum after the holiday

Let's face it, they didn't learn from the PS3 or 3DS debuts. At launch, the system cost too much to make, and too much for consumers too pay. PSP launched with the 'Core Pack' at $199, which is the sweet spot for handhelds. If Vita had done without certain unnecessary technical enhancements and launched at the same price, no one would be asking for a price drop because those people would own one by now. $50 can make or break a gaming system, and Sony's stubbornness has cost them dearly.

Oh wait, don't read this until after Christmas.

He mentioned the Wii which pretty much proves the importance of the gaming media or rather it's lack thereof...

True that, but there're investors, developers, publishers... and other people who listen to and influenced by gaming media. Wii was a success and therefore Nintendo couldn't care less about what journalists and analysts were writing, Vita isn't.

Though in retrospect it seems Nintendo did care, though probably should not have to.
