I've preordered mine! that game looks nothing but GOLD I haven't played the beta I don't like playing unfinished games Id rather just wait til it comes out and play the finished version. As for the price meh Its cheaper than most other new release games, Sony seems to release there games like 20 bucks cheaper than every other publisher.

Here in nz its $99.00 plus pre order bonus where as most other new release games are like $120.

Long story short Sony is going back to a format that the company has already deemed inferior, many of their mascots started out and are to this very day 3D oriented. Nintendo has its roots in 2D and SSB reflected this by presenting the mascots in a way that most people remember them.

1) God of War: Betrayal

2) In the first SSB: Starfox outside of a vehicle before Starfox Adventures.

What? Did I count something? So Kratos has a 2D Java Game, only 17 to go. I have no idea what the second point means.

That's what I'm referring to with the second point. I can't even remember a 2D starfox. Not sure what Captain Falcon was doing out of his vehicle as well.

Oh yeah that makes total sense now, 2 out of 35 characters actually do not have 2 sidescrolling platformer roots so that invalidates everything I said up to this point.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

It matters because Sony or whoever does this takes the easy way out. There is a blueprint on the wall and Sony just uses that. They could have very well made a 3D Brawler like Powerstone or Anarchy Reigns, representing the vast majority of their current cast properly. There are like 4 out of 20 characters that have not yet been in a 3D plane and that is very generous. Sackboy has a 3D model in LBP Karting. Parappa and Fat Princess are actually the only characters that didn't go 3D yet, afaik.

Regardless of what genre the game could have been, it would have something to compare to and look at to borrow from. No game is 100% original today. People are just butthurt because it happens to be in a genre dominated (but not created) by Nintendo for a long time now with little competition.

It's funny how you use lines like "Sony or whoever does this takes the easy way out. There is a blueprint on the wall and Sony just uses that." Before saying "They could have very well made a 3D Brawler like Powerstone or Anarchy Reigns, representing the vast majority of their current cast properly."

It's so obvious that your issues with the game have nothing to do with 2Dvs3D but just the game in particular that it's similar to.

I never said that I do not have a problem with this being a copycat project. In fact, I do have a huge problem with that. At least Nintendo is using their own assets for their quick cash grabs.

2/12

As far as "side-scrolling platformer roots", the same could be said for Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Link, and I think Ness. Meaning 6/12.

what confused me is why you'd bring a policy from the 90s that from what you've shown only affected 2 games and apply that to whats going on over a decade later

"if you like the characters, good for you."

 thank you

'It's hard for Nintendo to betray their roots with Mario Kart when the IP is like 20 years old and thus a part of their roots. "

wasn't your point that 3d characters shouldn't be placed into a 2d game?

with mariokart aren't 2d characters being placed into a 3d racing game

with strikers aren't 2d characters being placed into a 3d soccor game

with gold aren't 2d characters being placed into a 3d golf game

etc?

All of Nintendos IP's are so old that they all have their roots in 2D but that doesn't mean that Nintendo is forever forced to make 2D games. I think the perception that 3D is more advanced than 2D can be universally accepted. Nearly all of Nintendos IP's have successfully made the transition from 2D to 3D individually. There's 2D and 3D Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid. Give me a call when there is a 2D Uncharted or God of War.

Long story short Sony is going back to a format that the company has already deemed inferior, many of their mascots started out and are to this very day 3D oriented. Nintendo has its roots in 2D and SSB reflected this by presenting the mascots in a way that most people remember them.

but somehow most of sony's ips have their roots in 3d and they are forced to forever make 3d games because of a policy from the 90s that affected 2 games...

awesome logic

There are 18 characters in Sony's roster right now that originated or have since evolved into 3D games. Tell me a reason why it makes sense to build them all into a 2D game.

the same way it makes sense to make mario kart, strikers, golf, tennis and any other formats that the original games didn't possess

So, cash grab. Like I said, at least Nintendo is using their own assets to milk Mario instead of basically reskinning a competitors game.

None of those games besides Star Fox is 3D. Love how you guys keep nagging on every single little thing. "Ha! He said sidescrolling platformer! We are off 2D, lets list what games are not sidescrolling platformers besides being totally irrelevant!" Jeeeeeeeesus.

Sounds like you're getting tired :P

I am surprised that you are pulling the fancard at this moment when I basically say that Nintendo milks their IP's just like everyone else. I guess we can agree then that its just oh so convenient to basically rebuild Smash Brothers with Sony Characters instead of showing some effort and building a game that actually represents the values of the Playstation brand.
