No, I did not, first off, because I don't preorder stuff usually... and secondly... because I will buy it sooner or later, just not immidiately after release~

I'm not going to pre order it. I might get it when its price drops to $20. But to be honest, It just doesn't look that fun.

i played the private beta and it was actually really fun but then the news of the final roster came out and seeing there is no crash and the fact that i have xbox, vita and other ps3 games to get just doesnt seem worth it to pay full price at launch for 20 characters. I mean arent people worried that some important characters that help define sony arent in the game? New dlc characters wont bring in that many new customers seriously if you think about it as the inital hype is what gets people to pre order and buy.

Actually this game will have legs. It won't be frontloaded.

It will sell over time. With new DLC characters and stages, they will keep the hype going. You're telling me if they announced Crash as DLC that you wouldn't be temped to buy the game right then and there? Hell by the time they start doing DLC the game will cost $40 or less. Or better, on Black Friday Buy 2 get 1 free...

Can you prove any of that or is that wishful thinking? I wouldnt even call those educated guesses because the preorders are so low. And do my eyes decieve me or are you praising DLC as a means of "saving" this game?

On topic, people are waiting for the metacritic. Previews and gamer sentiments are too mixed and on-the-fence. Better hope this game scores at least 80+ meta or you can kiss those "legs" goodbye.

Can I prove it will have legs? Yes. Look at any PS3 exclusive and you'll see that the bulk of its sales are NOT done on week 1. A perfect example is Uncharted 3. Low pre-orders but is now at over 4.5m sales a year later. LEGZ.

That is an educated guess. If anything, you are the one with wishful thinkingn hoping it will flop.

I'm not saying DLC will "save"the game. It doesn't need saving. The roster in the game is fine for the first in what I hope is the start of a successful franchise. The more successful the game is, the more likely other IP holders will want their characters represented in the game via DLC or future releases.

Your comparing this game to Uncharted in terms of legs? wow. Id compare it to Starhawk in terms of preorders and sales. But guess well see

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I'll buy it for Christmas with Little Big Karting. I know my sister is really looking forward to Sackboy as a kart racer and I'm sure she'll be willing to give PSAS a go, although I'm a little afraid the lack of a female presence will put her off quite a bit, here's hoping for some early DLC!

I loved the game but i dont think i want it, i played brawl for years but this game is just different for some reason and the line up is not that great to me.

I mean i wouldnt want to play as drake, fat princess, sly, or really anyone except raiden just cuz im a hardcore mgs fan.

But with brawl i would have such a hard time picking what to use becuase of all the good options!

That in itself is a difference maker. I just dont see me even paying 25$ for the game, but i would pay 45 for a copy of brawl again.

Maybe its the thought of waking around sly and all those low hype characters for hours with raiden just seem boring.

But a sword fight between ike and marth sound really nice right now even for a wii.

So the dream of every Playstation fan is having a game that neither represents the Playstation brand in gameplay nor in characters? OK.

huh???

the characters in the game have their movesets taken as directly as possible from the games they're from

and in terms of history all of the most important first party characters are in...

as for third parties like crash and spyro that were important to playstation over a decade ago it has been repeated constantly that the developers rely on the permission of third parties to use those characters

Without Lara Croft, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonheart, Solid Snake or the original Dante this game does not represent what made Playstation the brand that it is today. Most of the characters in this game are exclusively PS3 affiliated, if even that. And the last 5-6 years are not exactly those where the Sony brand rose to greatness. The games name is All-Stars which implies that those characters had a certain success or impact. With characters like Nariko thats some deep reaching and Mecha Raiden and Punk Dante are completely unproven.

Concerning gameplay, using 2D to represent their "staple" franchises is nothing less than a travesty, but I discussed this before. Would this game be like Anarchy Reigns I wouldn't say a word since 3D was Sony's thing and I have nothing against a mascot brawler for Sony people per se.

Development of two-dimensional games is to be discouraged for the chief home consoles. (PS2, PS3)

This also applies to the handheld market. (PSP)

All games genres under this rule include Action, Adventure, Driving, Role-Playing, Simulation, Sports, and Strategy. (Plus unlisted sub genres)

All games genres not under this rule include Puzzle, and Novel.

Gameplay is irrelevant, as long a graphics standard is kept (3D)

In the case of a non agreement the game will be suggested for the handheld market. (PSP)

nonsense...

ps1: parappa, sweet tooth, sir daniel, heihachi, spike

ps2 : kratos, sly cooper, jak and daxter, rachet and clank, colonel radec, raiden, dante

ps3: fat princess, drake, sack boy, evil cole, cole, nariko, big daddy

i'm honestly unsure of where toro fits in but i'd have to guess either the ps2 or ps1 era

as far the other third party characters absent it has been reiterated a million times that sony does not own those characters and as a result their presense in this game relies solely on whether third parties see fit to share them or not

"Concerning gameplay, using 2D to represent their "staple" franchises is nothing less than a travesty"

your opinion not really sure how its relevant to anything but knock yourself out

so i'm guessing that you're saying that sony has not developed any 2d games for ps2 and ps3?

No, I'm saying that they actively tried to avoid 2D games in order to differentiate themselves from the Mega Drive and the SNES. Them now doing a complete 180 and basically saying "Look, this is what Playstation is all about, this is how our biggest faces battle it out Playstation style. It's 2D btw." IS a travesty. And if you don't think my opinion doesn't add anything I suggest you read the OP one more time.

The characters used in this game going under the names of Raiden and Dante do not deserve to be listed under the PS2 banner and I have no idea what a "colonel radec" or "fat princess" is. I have owned every single playstation console or handheld and if even I don't know all the characters that's not really a good sign for the broad appeal the game needs to be a success.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I'll buy it used or when there's a price drop. I'm looking forward to it, but there's too much coming out this holiday that I want more.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

???

i thought the document you posted reffers to ps2 and ps3 wouldn't that then apply to the gamecube and the wii?

( which would be weird as i remember the gamecube being home to mostly 3d experiences but whatever )

"Them now doing a complete 180"

ah so its only now that they've embraced 2d gameplay?

i'm guessing one of their biggest franchises this gen lbp doesn't really count?

but regardless you're the only person i've seen so far raise this issue against the game so whats the problem?

"The characters used in this game going under the names of Raiden and Dante do not deserve to be listed under the PS2 banner"

the franchises they're from originated on ps2... which is why i listed them as such

" I have no idea what a "colonel radec" or "fat princess" is."

you haven't played killzone similarly to how even though i was solely a nintendo fan up until the gamecube i hadn't played ice climbers so i had no idea who they werein melee...

the same goes for game and watch, roy, marth etc etc etc yet they were still in the roster

"I have owned every single playstation console or handheld and if even I don't know all the characters that's not really a good sign for the broad appeal the game needs to be a success."

keeping in mind that the aforementioned third party characters are outside of their control what would you suggest the dev team do to allay your fears?

Not yet. Too much other stuff higher on my radar at the moment. Starting with RE6 (which isn't wowing me right now but I'm still optimistic), there's going to be heavy hitter after heavy hitter for the foreseeable future. I'm sure this game will be decent but it will be mid-2013 at the earliest, for me.
