Actually about Paper Mario sales it really did increase a lot after first day sales of only 50k.  Guess whoever it was that pointed out the fact that many people will wait til the weekend to buy it was right.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

In March NPD, the Wii sold around 50k/wk....Same as Japan, so I doubt that shipments are being re-directed to the US. Either Nintendo is holding shipments back for SPM in the US and Golden Week in Japan, or production was down for a few weeks. Either way, the Wii is up in Japan, as the past 2 weeks have seen pretty good sales.

Outside of Phoenix Wright, I will do awesome this week on the predictions league :)

I had SPM at 150k, Fate/Stay at 140k, Persona at 80k,  FF1 at 43k, and M vs. DK2 at 50k, and good h/w numbers aside from lowballing the DS.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Paper Mario 2: Thousand year door first week of sales: 162,000    GC userbase 3.38 Mill.

Super Paper Mario first week of sales: 150,000  Wii userbase  2.1 mill

1 in 20 people who owned GC launch week of paper mario 2, purchased the title.

1 in 14 people who own a Wii last week bough Super Paper Mario.(all in Japan of course)

Paper Mario 2 sold a little below 500,000 in Japan. I suspect being that the Super Paper Mario ratio is better and since the Wii sales are very strong that Super Paper Mario should surpass PM2 when all is done.

i think some people were not able to buy it because the amount of systems sold did not increase.

SPM 150k and Wii only 65 K ? less than last week ?

seems strange....

where are the supplies promises ?

Of course we have to wait until the April NPD numbers are released to be sure where the promised upramped supply has been located to. But it would only make sense for Nintendo to focus on americas/europe at the moment.

April NPD numbers might be great for Wii, according reports of strong Wii supplies (Neogaf, EB/Games..) and according itrackr.com, (where Wii national availability has suddenly reach 10 or 20 % since the beginning of April...)

I will bet on 500K...

The PS3 really doesnt have ANY realease in Japan in the recent weeks ....this is horrible I dont know what kind of pathetic planning Sony Japan had but launching a console with 4-5 games ,add some 15-20 in the first months only two of them being any interesting (VF5 ,VT 3 and Gundam Mussou ) and then leave the console without any new games for MONTHS is kinda lame .What would they have done if the console had launched in the first announced date of June 2006 ,leave the people without games for a whole year ??

itrackr shows Wii at 22% avaliability now. Either A. Demand just vanished, or they sent a few million to america.

The PS3 is sort of shafted now in Japan (notice how Hus & Kwaad don't post on these threads.. ;). Sony was just *expecting* the titles out so far to be selling regularly up to now, so didn't worry about pushing up releases.

Plus a decent PS3 title takes a lot of work/engineering, so its not something they can easily rush.

They just need some momentum, and that takes the form of several good titles coming out at once. I predict you'll see pathethic PS3 sales all the way up to late Oct, maybe even November.

There is a big difference between a "good" title (Gundam), and a real system seller (something people are willing to fork out $600US for a console on).

...

I predict you'll see it near 5k levels in about a month, when the drought really sets in - and the Wiicraze really warms up (DQ, Brain Training).

EDIT: Good to see Kwaad chip in with a off-topic, anti-Wii post ;)

I don't think "22%" indicates the vanishing of demand - especially with the news of the huge shipments that came in over the last weekend.

Just jumped onto itrackr, and picked a random city (Atlanta). PS3 available in 19/23 stores, Wii available in 4/23 stores. Enough said :)

April going to be a HUGE Wii month (US) - pretty scary considering Pokemon launched as well.

EDIT: 10 people tracking the Wii, 0 tracking the PS3. Numbers speak for themselves...
