Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How much more powerful do you think the Wii U is compared to PS3/Xbox360.

"When the Xbox 360 came out it's games looks crazy good compared to the previous gen."
Kain, i agree with everything you said but this, they didnt, in fact until Gears of war appeared none of the Xbox games really showed the power of the console beyond the resolution compared to previous gen best looking games such as RE4 and SW:Rebel strike

If you look at reviews of the first year of games you'll see a lot of praise for graphics. Even ports like Call of Duty 2,  King Kong, Quake 4 were applauded for being a substantial step up from the previous gen. The bump in resolution was a big factor, but few could argue that Project Gotham Racing 3 and Condemned weren't graphicaly amazing for the time.

Maybe 20% more efficient, and graphically indistinguishable from the other consoles.

Just like the XBox 360 was

Don't make me post the same damn Kameo pitures again.

OT, noticeably more powerful. Down the road we will see games looking appreciably better than PS360 ones.

As long as you can show off the Wii U game that was in development when the Wii launched to compare it against

"The bump in resolution was a big factor." Thank you for this. This is the advantage both the 360 and PS3 have over the gen before them that the WiiU does not. On top of that why do 3rd parties need to go above and beyond the 360 and PS3 capabilities when 360 and PS3 and have much larger userbases then WiiU? This is why this next gen is going to be hilarious. HD gamers are hoping for beast which will only ensure higher price tags, but they also want the 360 and PS3 to have long life spans. As long as 3rd parties are making games for 360 and PS3, the WiiU will easily walk all over the PS4 and 720 because their adoption rate by the previous consumers will be much slower, while Wii previous consumers have no reason to continue to support the Wii since the WiiU as taken nearly all of its attention. If what I'm saying isn't true then what is going on with the Vita and PSP situation? As long as the PSP is still a good buy, current PSP owners have no reason to upgrade. Ninty is killing the DS for a reason.

But its still running games at 720p. I would hope a console just twice as powerful could do a full 1080p. To put that in perspective... its the same reolution the 360 has done for about 7 years.

All we know is it has more RAM. But others specs could be inferior or just equal. We'll have to wait and see.

Actually is running games at 720p PLUS 480p for the gamepad. So is not the same resolution as the Xbox360.

The RAM available for games is higher (tiny bit more than twice), and the GPU is more up to date, it seem is a 2009 design vs a 2005 design, so it has to be better even working at the same clock speed. The only thing that seems to be around the same level is the CPU and is one of the reason they went with a GPGPU architecture.

What year did Kameo release for the Xbox? Also what year did Kameo release for the Xbox 360?

I don't understand what you're saying here? You posted a picture of a bad looking 360 launch title to try to paint that first batch of games as looking shitty, Kameo proves this wrong.

Kameo was a launch title for 360. Never released on the original, but was being made for it before they switched systems.

Hasn't this been done already? Its more powerful than this current gen. Hell it runs games at 60fps in HD which XBox360 & PS3 can't.

So which game on the Xbox are you comparing Kameo to?

The two launch games for the XBox 360 that looked better than XBox games were Kameo and Perfect Dark, two games that began development before the XBox was released and were nearly completed before they were switched development to the XBox 360. The last 18 months of development of these games was primarily on improving their visuals.

The vast majority of game releases for most consoles at launch (especially the first console to be launched) are crappy ports that look no better than their previous generation games (like Gun), or games that are low budget and have strict deadlines and only see minor upgrades over previous generation games.

After E3 if there are no games that look any better than XBox 360 games I will agree with you that there isn't a substantial improvement in the visuals of games, until then I want to see an apples-to-apples comparison between games.
