Forums - Nintendo - 3DS XL Circle pad pro announced.

Nintendo have officially revealed the new Circle Pad Pro accessory for the Nintendo 3DS XL in Japan. Price and release date haven’t been mentioned yet, but the accessory is listed on their Japanese website and looks similar to the orignal Circle Pad Pro for the regular Nintendo 3DS model.

The original Circle Pad Pro was revealed alongside Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate back in 2011, and a limited number of bundles containing both the game and the device were made available.

Given that there have been commercials of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Monster Hunter 4 running on the 3DS XL in Japan, revealing a Circle Pad Pro accessory for the XL at this point makes sense.

I suppose this isn't unexpected, but I'm sure it still leaves the question open as to why they didn't just build it in. Either way it's here so now everyone can have dual analogues on their 3DS no matter which model they have.

i might get it for MH4

It just boggles my mind why Nintendo didn't just include a 2nd controller in the 1st place. Two analogue controllers have been the standard since the PSone.

the analogue stick takes up a lot of room so that's why

the 3DS would have to be bigger if they had added another one

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

no, the PSX launched in 1995 with no analog whatsoever and the Wii has dominated this gen without a second analog

Nintendo actually considered it for the XL version, but in the end they would need to make a significantly smaller battery for it to fit.

They made the right choice.

I know the PSone didn't have analogue until the launch of Gran Turismo. I'm just saying it's standard now. If they had one Kid Icarus control scheme would not have been so convoluted. It's a shame since that game was on my "to get" list.
