Forums - Sales Discussion - PS2 2001 sales numbers vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =)

Head pulsing. Anger rising. Common sense dwindling.

I tried to argue this months ago. I thought I had a solid argument against him. How he can possibly continue this is completely beyond me.

Uh... uh... yes...

Well, this one's gonna be tough. Let's see, the point of this thread is to stablish that the ps3 is as succesful as the ps2. To achieve this, the OP and thread shark (hur hur) keeps tweaking the framework of the statement so the statement remains true.

Last I heard, Japan had been taken out of the framework since the ps3 is tanking there.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

This thread is like a sphere. It has no point.

Heehehehe.

I think the following is clear evidence that along with Japan, the Americas are showing that a trend doesn't exist between 2001 and 2008.  So we'll have to exclude them as well and focus on Total Others for a good second full year comparison, which shows the PS3 doing very well indeed!! :):)

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 05th Jan 2008 to 15th Nov 2008:

Console PS3
Total
8,033,837
America
2,887,645
Japan
801,108
Total Others
4,345,084

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 06th Jan 2001 to 17th Nov 2001:

Console PS2
Total
10,357,052
America
4,193,353
Japan
2,576,623
Total Others
3,587,076

Difference(PS3-PS2):

Total

-1,775,515
Total Others
758,008

LOL I hope that was a sarcastic post.

Perhaps I should link to this to show how a decent comparison should be made between the two consoles (ie seperating the regions for a decent timescale)

" PS3 sales are only off the PS2 pace by about 15% in Europe."
