How much more/less (in millions) will the PS3 sell in 2008 world wide compared to launch date to end of 2007.

Will the PS3 sell more than 8.9-9 million world wide in 2008?yes? no? by how much? and why?

The PS3 will sell around 9 million WW in 2008.

Overall trend will be yearly from 2008 onwards.

The PS3 should sell around 12 - 14 million in 2008, depending on how fast they cut the price. They'll have a $299/299EUR model ready by next November at the latest, they'll have great software, and BluRay has won the format battle. Should be clear sailing from here on out.

I can actually see them pulling out a 10-12mil(12mil being a stretch) year IF these games take off as anticipated

I think a 15-25 percent increase is doable for the PS3, for a variety of reasons.

That would put  the PS3 in the 9-10 million range. Or, put in words: solid improvement for what has thus far been a third place console (most third place consoles decrease in sales), but nothing earth-shattering where suddenly, everyone in the world gets it and the system doubles its sales. 

I can see the PS3 selling anywhere from 9-13m this year.

I personally fully expect it to sell around 11-12m TBH. Putting it around the 20-21m mark by the end of this year.

I agree with the general consensus of around ten million. I also believe the Xbox 360 will increase it's sales this year. However, while the PS3 will again increase it's sales in 2009 over 2008, the Xbox 360's sales will drop from it's 2008 sales in 2009.

If it sells the same in '08 as it did in '07 it will reach 17.7mil if it gets a small 10% bump it will get to 18.55mil

Best case scenerio it gets a 25% bump like BOD is saying.(which may happen if these big hits really take of like they are suppose to.) it will reach 19.82mil

Everyone has to remember as well that Sony cannot keep losing money on this thing. You wont see another $200 worth of price cuts this year, no matter how many features they cut out.

@starcraft toshiba was producing smaller processors for ps3 that sony was going to start implementing in their console starting this month. And unlike the last drop it isnt just the cell the are shrinking(last drop 90nm - 65nm. this time its 65nm-45nm). They are also shrinking the RSX from 90nm - 65nm. So they could very well afford another drop.
