Forums - Nintendo - Is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance coming to the WiiU?

I'd like to see it on Wii U and I could see it happening, unfortunately if it does it may end up being several months after the PS3/360.

Maybe they can add a Bayonetta level or something exclusive to the Wii U version.

Yeah, if it DOES happen, it'll probably be a late port, but hey, better late than never.

Don't think so, it should be announced by now or it is going to be a late port. The company has experience with the console but Konami is the one putting the money and I don't think they are very interested in developing for the console (almost the only big Japan developer who has not announced anything).

Unless is super cheap and fast to do a port I say NO.

Several things may have to happen to make MGR: Revengeance a reality on Wii U.

1) The WiiU has to be a success, particularly in Japan, where Konami is based.  So far that possibility looks very likely, based on the MH3U bundle + DQX beta + 2D Mario.

2) The third party software has to sell.  This will ensure that there IS an audience for such games on WiiU.

3) Nintendo has to keep on being aggressive in its courting of third party titles.  They can't afford to drop the ball this time.

4) Konami has to express interest in the WiiU and consider developing for it.  (The only way for that to happen is for the system to sell.)

So far, all four of those steps seem to be falling into place.  So... never say never.

Also, just because Konami hasn't announced anything for WiiU yet doesn't mean they're not interested in developing for it/not planning to.  And apparently it's not that expensive to port anything to WiiU... or so I've heard.

I won't.  I'll bet on it being a late port.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Konami being interested in WiiU; a while ago they sorta stated that they would gladly do PES for WiiU if the demand shows, plus even David Cox, despite not committing LoS 2 OR 1 to WiiU, is not against the console.  So I wouldn't say that they are never going to support/are not interested in WiiU.

That is proof of no interest.

If demand shows? how will demand show? we need to start a petition to bring soccer game X to the console? If EA sells a lot of FIFA it is proof enough? that sounds like PR Jibber-jabber.

The Castlevania case is a different one but also proof that Konami is showing little interest in the console. Currently the team of MercurySteam is short handed to support a Wii U version of the game, so KONAMI has to approve more resources to hire the extra team required to do the porting, if they are STILL understaffed means konami is not interested in taking the game to the Wii U.

The companies vote with their wallets and Konami does not want to invest, so they have little intereste on the console, and it is an afterthough.

Mod edit - Not possible

Interestingly, I found an article from Eurogamer from last year.  IIRC, it did involve talks with Kojima Productions with Nintendo.  Take it with a grain of salt, but even so...

While there has been no announcement for the game coming to the WiiU there is some evidence to think it might end up on the console.

Platnium games the company responsible for making the game are also working on two other games being the Wonderfull 101 and Bayonetta 2 both being WiiU exclusives. Maybe the Japanese Xbox360 version was cancelled to divert resources to developing the WiiU version of the game.

Opinions Please

Maybe the Japanese Xbox360 version was cancelled to divert resources to port Bayonetta 2 on PS3 (sorry, couldn't resist...)

Konami is showing little interest, so there is always a possibility but it is not likely, at least not with a game that is so far ahead in development (better chance of Castlevania LOS 2 in my opinion).

Port to Wii U is very, very cheap if your engine supports it, so Unreal 3 port is very fast and cheap (Batman Arkham City, Mass Effect 3) or if you already have worked with the Wii (Most of Activision titles), but if your engine does not support the console yet, you need to invest to make your engine work on it (like Ubisoft's Anvil Next for Assassin's Creed 3), and that is the reason we are not seeing games like Medal of Honor Warfighter, Need For Speed or anything else from EA, because they need to make Frostbite 2 work on Wii U and that needs an investment that they are not willing to do or more time that they had for "launch window" games.

In the case of Metal Gear Rising, the people from PG are working on their engine for Bayonetta 2 but is still not ready (no ingame footage for that game) and we don't know which engine they are using for The Wonderful 101, so we don't know if a quick/cheap port of MGR is feasible right now so is either a very late port (when the engine is working) or not comming at all as Konami may not want to invest on it at the end.

It won't,as any other MGS or Castlevania game coming from Konami.
