Geno.
Pico / f-zero
Leon / resident evil 4
Grit / advance wars
Nights / nights into dreams
Ridley from Metroid
Also have Zero Suit Samus as a seperate selectable character.
Shulk
Elza/Zael
Geno
Sammy
Krom (almost certainly happening, but replacing Ike)
Krystal
Some Namco characters (Pacman, Lloyd, KOS-MOS, etc)

How about a space pirate

Metroid deserves at least one more character
NOT Ridley. I repeat, NOT Ridley.
Ridley is a freaking gian dinosaur. Him picking up Samus with 1 hand and shoving her into a wall is what he is all about. I don't want him to be scaled down like they did with bowser, he would just look lame, silly and would lose everything that is badass and intimidating about him. Keep him as a boss tho.
What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)
Final Ultimate Legendary Earth Power Super Max Justice Future Miracle Dream Beautiful Galaxy Big Bang Little Bang Sunrise Starlight Infinite Fabulous Totally Final Wonderful Arrow...FIRE! - Wonder-Red (The Wonderful101)
Mega Man
Shulk
Non Specific Action Hero
Snake has no business being in Smash Bros, but Sonic and Pac-Man is OK
Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright or Randi. The last one to promote a Wii U sequel please square please
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

What about a metroid?

Maybe not a regular Metroid but maybe a more grown up metroid like this Zeta Metroid. a regular metroid is probably too small and it would probably be hard to come up with enough attacks for a regular metroid
