Forums - Sony - How is it physically possible for insomniac to release an AAA game a year?

The title says it all, I love resistance and r&c but how do they manage to do it when it takes most developers 3 or 4 years to make one title. Do they have there own personal TARDIS or something, I just don't understand how they do it, and with such a relaxed attitude.

How can you think if you don't know enough words?

How do you know what I think until you hear what I say.

I imagine Insomniac as owning an island in the South Pacific somewhere and they run a coding sweat shop run by thugs with whips and blackjacks.

Multiple development teams working on projects independantly ...

Basically, this is the exact same way that all first party publishers can release several amazingly high quality titles every year.

Yeah but there quite a small developmental company they only have like 120 employees

well duh, it's because they stay up all night working on their games.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Adding more people can often slow down the entire process. Some of those employees can also be shared amongst the teams easily as they are play-testers and work on all the projects as needed. If they have even 3 development teams it means that each team gets 3 years to finish their game which is an ample amount of time.

Starcraft 2 ID: Gnizmo 229

Ever thought about two teams?

One is working now on Resistance 2 while the other one is working for the new R&C game and Ratchet game on PSP.

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

Isn't Insomniac ranked as "the best game studio to work for" like 3 years straight? They get massages and ice cream days all the time. I think they are ranked one of the best companies to work for in the U.S.
