(AP) KALISPELL, Mont. - A man dressed in a military-style "ghillie" suit and apparently trying to provoke reports of a Bigfoot sighting in northwest Montana was struck by two cars and killed, authorities said.

The man was standing in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell on Sunday night when he was hit by the first car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A second car hit the man as he lay in the roadway, authorities said.

Flathead County officials identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell. Trooper Jim Schneider said motives were ascertained during interviews with friends, and alcohol may have been a factor but investigators were awaiting tests.

"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," Schneider told the Daily Inter Lake on Monday. "You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him."

Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers.

"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," Schneider told KECI-TV.

Tenley was struck by vehicles driven by two girls, ages 15 and 17, who were unable to stop in time, authorities said.

I like the last sentence of the story (that he was struck by two girls aged 15 and 17).   Apparently, the sight of Bigfoot is too much to handle for young female drivers or perhaps the guy was an idiot for standing in the right hand lane camouflaged.

Whoa, what the fuck? Why do this? And how is foliage camouflage not visibly conspicuous against asphalt?

Stupid idiot... now the girls are terrorized by that guilt for the rest of their lives.

When I saw the title, I thought somebody ran over Ron Perlman

Yea, I felt pretty bad after running over a squirrel.  I can imagine it is a lot worse when it is a human.

A guy I used to work with ran over (killed) a drunk who was walking along a remote desert road late at night. He was devasted for a very long time. Definitely changed his personality.

I also know a guy during high school that hit a drunk.  Turns out the drunk guy was an uncle of a girl I knew.  I was actually at the party he was at before the accident.  Luckily, the guy (he was underage of course) didn't drink any alcohol so he wasn't charged with anything.  Imagine if he just had a beer or two...  It would have ruined his life even though it was the drunk guy crossing the street fault that he got hit.

Must be traumatic for those girls.

Wait? you can drive a car when you're 15?

I believe you can have a temp license.  Each state is different but if you have a temp license then you usually need someone that has a drivers license in the front passenger seat.   There are usually restrictions on night driving and other things too.
