Forums - Microsoft - Free-For-All mode announced for Gears of War: Judgment, playable at PAX Prime this weekend

This Is Xbox

Microsoft, Epic Games and developers People Can Fly has recently revealed that Gears of War: Judgment will feature a Free-For-All multiplayer mode. As used in other franchises such as Halo and Call of Duty – the every man for himself option should prove to be successful for casual players who like to step aside from the team work once in awhile.

The new mode can be viewed and played this weekend during PAX Prime in Seattle at booth #412 where two new maps Gondola and Library will be featured as detailed below:

  • GONDOLA – The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.
  • LIBRARY – The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honor, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.

Gears of War: Judgment will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on March 19th 2013.

Can't F*cking Wait!!!

Free-for-All sucks. Team Deathmatch in most online shooters is already Free-for-all in essence. Every man for himself and hardly any co-operation for the team.

That is why objective based shooters are the best. Enemy Territory Quake Wars is the master but Battlefield's Rush modes also do it very well thanks to the mandatory squads system, excellent level design among other things. COD is just junk in this department and from my experience with Halo 3 it isn't much better. Not sure about Gears (I have very little experience of the online) but I have my suspicions.

That's what I've been waiting for. It's a pretty obvious inclusion and I don't know why they never added this. When I jump into a multi-player game, I like to start off in Free-For-All so that I can get a good sense of the gameplay online without making everyone on the team hate me. When I feel competent enough, I move on to the other modes. With this added to the mix, I can FINALLY try playing Gears online in a mode that isn't Horde Mode.

Surprises this wasnt done before. nice addition!

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Free for all takes more skill and can be much more intense than TDM.

But yep Team Objective is the BEST! I play a crazy amount of TO on UC3. Will probably hit 100k in a few weeks.

OT: Looking forward to gameplay vids on this :)

I agree that FFA takes more skill. Usually some of the best players are gathered in FFA mode. So if you're an average soldier there's a high risk you will park at the bottom of the scoreboard.

As an average soldier myself I totally avoid FFA.

Actually I am better than average but this isn't the place for bragging.

ps: sorry for being off topic lol

but hey do you guys think a mode like FFA will work with a game like Gears? The movement etc are more suited for Team based modes imo. Would be really interested in seeing how peepz can fly handle this
