If you think it's so obvious that we would have guessed, why is it such a big deal if you release the infromation now? If you've been dropping hints, the Mafia may have figured it out (since there's a few of them to combine ideas), whereas the rest of us only have our own minds

Well, "if the mafia know the info" scenario is invalid. They pretty much have more info than town all the time.
