WTF are you people talking about?

Do some research and look at the phones which were sued and patents that Apple sued them with. Looking at the phones in question, Samsung "willingly" copied the Iphone and its features.

People that know me know that I don't like Apple but I hate seeing lack of common sense.

Except there's no rational basis for claiming the 1/2 of these similar features are APPles to use exclusively. Icons to represent programmes on a "home" screen have been around for ages, putting them on a phone is nothing special. There are certain logical efficiencies to layout, so Apple should own those. Rectangula phones with rounded corners are hardly new. In fact there's really nothing new about the look and feel of iPhone, the only thing arguably new is all those things put together in iPhone, but even then  most phone will have used elements of at a majority of the things Apple argues is exclusively theirs through some imagined innovation.

Anyway Samsung design has pretty much moved on. I just hope this doesn't have repercussions essentially creating a monopoly situation.

Developing and releasing 2 new consoles will have that effect. Sony and Microsoft have bled billions too.

microsoft just posted billions of dollars profit while developing a new xbox, and a new windows OS, sony's one of the worse run business's ever. Apple's run well, they price things at their price because they can. If nintendo or sony could get away with it they would too... or they tried (vita not selling 3DS having price drop).

Any business would. Difference is Sony/Nintendo at least make quality products most of the time.

http://www.squaretrade.com/cell-phone-comparison-study-nov-10

Iphone has the highest reliability, compared to other smartphones.

If you don't like them that's fine, but that =/= quality of the product.

There's much more to product quality than reliability.

lol, so the wii having outdated technology (more so than the iphone) when it was brought to market, is a quality product?

Whereas an Mac isn't despite them having various software suites for music and video that are only available on mac. And having a fairly intuitive interface on their phones, and Ipods (which they bought out companys for if I remember).

I don't like either but they both have their point and target audience, and do a good job for their target audience.

It's simple really, Apple devices suck for gaming and are overpriced. I know there's more to it than gaming, but they don't do anything that justifies the high price.

And yeah, the Wii is a quality product, because you can play great games on it. It's not overpriced for what it offers.

to you, to me the wii was/is useless because I can play all the wii software on PC with better graphics, the gamepad I want... and I don't have to buy the wii.

There's some software suites that are only available on mac, so thus, it is worth it to those people, with some features that people prefer. Lots of people that bought comparibly priced vaio and then bought a macbook, prefer the macbook for it's interface and design and that preference to them is worth the price.

It's not worth the price to me, but a lot of things aren't.

The ipod touches are priced the same as the Android MP3 players. The Iphone is priced similarly to the Samsung Galaxy SIII which is generally considered the best android phone.

God people are so stupid in this thread.

well done Apple!

Samsung may of copied back then, but the iPhone 4s and Galaxy S3 couldn't be more different (galaxy s3 actual size is much bigger than iPhone 4s)

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

So Samsung can sue LG for having TVs with flat screens and black casing?

I don't really see why Apple do this. No company should own any common patents, they should have to make up new ones. Plus they're destroying competition because of this (which isn't necessary if they sell so well anyway!) which is very bad. As much as I like apple i don't want them to become a monopoly ( android is great too!)

Are you realling going to tell me that you feel "pinch to zoom" should have ever even gotten a pattent let alone be exclusive? What if ID software patented FPS? What if Nintendo patented side scrolling? What if Xerox patented the GUI and the mouse?

That's what I can't stand about the Apple haters: so much ignorance. Apple bought from Xerox the user interface design!! The Xerox top managemnt was laughing at the mouse. It has been paid with Apple shares! It has been Microsoft the thief that first bought some restricted licenses from Apple to make Windows 1.0 and then extended Windows making use of something they didn't pay for, which are the overlapped windows and many other UI elements. Now they all seems such obvious ideas, but at that time they were NOT.

The case Apple vs Samsung, but it would be better to call it Apple vs Android, is very similar to the one against Microsoft 20 years ago or so. Apple sued MS, but MS had bigger muscles and probably connections in the court. This time is the other way around. You fandroids can hate and argue as much as you want, but if it wasn't for Apple now you will still be looking for a fugly Blackberry clone. Google and Samsung invented NOTHING, they just copied from Apple, with the excuse that it is an Open Source software.

That's the S3, the one that's copied is the S1.

The S3 is an awesome phone and not like the iphone... probably partially because of this.

How much copying that should be allowed is debateable. People weren't allowed to use the scroll wheel on the original Ipod. Sony got in trouble because they infringed on the rumble feature.

However, I don't see how you can argue that the original galaxy wasn't trying to be like an iphone. Which puts holes in the argument. (why would company's want to copy a design if there's nothing new or great about it?)

One of the many reasons I'll never buy an Apple product.

Their products may be good, but they ARE overpriced for what they offer. And no, neither the 3ds nor the vita are/were overpriced. People were calling the 3ds overpriced, but after the price cut which seemed fair Ninty admitted that they were losing money on each console sold. They are far from greedy.
