Forums - Gaming - Is the Vita truely dead?

I've heard a lot of people in diffrent forums about how the PSV is dead.  It's hard to debate or argue that statement,  seeing that the 3DS has outsold the Vita consistently by an average of  ~4:1 monthly(worldwide) ; and 10:1 lifetime since releasing in Japan 9 months ago.  The sad part is that the Vita, like the 3DS is a competent system.  In fact, comparing the 3DS to PSV in terms of specs is like comparing a turbocharged Wii (which it is) to a pseudo X360 with a qHD screen.  Things don't look good for the PSV as new competition for gamer's dollars are arriving like the Wii U and upcoming system from Microsoft etc.  I believe Sony should just drop the system and concentrate on what is going well for them which is their home console.  Sony with it's current financial problems cannot get distracted and lose focus on what made them successful in the gaming arena.  The apparent failure of the PS Move already highlight the way Sony has lost their focus and the PSV seems like a follow up to that.  Sony should definetly drop the Vita and make the PS4 as good as it can be. This will allow Sony, to regain the significance lost by it's Playstation brand the last few years; and thus help them fend off competitors old and new.(Apple)

Didn't realise we started a new week already.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I wouldnt say dead, in trouble yes, but in a world as fast changing as the mobile gaming sector its still too early to say. Plus i doubt it would be as easy for sony to kill of a system as it was for sega with the dreamcast. A lot of early vita adopters are likely to be PS3 owners and therefore they risk alienating some of their fanbase if they kill it off this soon.

It's doing fine. Now B_E_L_I_3_V_E.

PSV has no focus. Sony Really screwed up. Biggest mistake was cutting Youngsters out of the equation. Thats the biggest market for handheld. Then want 18-25 year olds.. who mostly likely would choose a Ipad/phone over Vita. Then its aimed at console gamers who want a console quality xxperience *eyeroll* okay... so play on consoles, like they will. Nobodies gonna stop playing CoD on consoles to play on Vita.

So where do they go? Vita aint dead yet, but it will be without a focus

This is the best response here. Vita's got a lot of potential between what the device can do and its lineup, but Sony seems to have fumbled completely on what to do with any of that.

TGS will tell...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

How does dropping the vita make ps4 better???

It should have been a smartphone. However, you can't claim any final word until after holidays.
