Forums - Sales - Japan Sales! Week 33(Aug. 13-19): Famitsu and Media-Create

To the user that said the Wii U is going to fail, must not have did his homework or must be new to the industry. Just think about it, the U is releasing 1 year or 1 year and a half before the competition. It will have Nintendo games and better 3rd party support than Wii & GC.
It will be the only next gen console for sometime. This isn't sega we are talking about here, it is Nintendo!!!!
The wii U be the cheapest system available and parents will buy their kids a Wii U system for the Xmas season. Nintendo has the money now to money hat whenever they want too. They don't need to outsell the Wii either, all they need to do is sell well.
I believe 80 million Wii U systems sold in its lifetime would be a complete success.

Wii U won't succeed with ps3 and xbox360 port.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

There's more than just ports bro.

And compared to most launches, the Wii U looks to be the best yet.

With Ps3 ports or without ps3 ports, Nintendo will support their own consoles just fine. Your meaning of success or fail is different than others okay. As long as it receive some form of steady 3rd party support to go along with Nintendos first party franchises, then I strongly believe that the Wii U will NOT fail!!!!!! Nintendo's mindset is not to compete with Sony or microsoft head on in the power fight or for the exclusives. Although Nintendo has the money to get exclusives is they wanted too. Nintendo has carved its own market now. They won't fail, they will be fine. Stop saying they will fail like its a fact. No one knows the future.

Developper won't make many IP in first week in the first year and Wii is bigger innovation then Wii U

You say that the Wii is a bigger innovation that the Wii U, well that is your opinion, even though I agree with you on this opinion. So maybe we share the same opinion here but the whole world doesn't revolve around us. There are more people with different views here. Some believe that the Wii U is better due to less waggle and more emphasis on touch screen.
I know that no one can change your opinion here but I just want to say this: the weaker console usually always wins each generation due to the fact that it is much cheaper (although Super Nintendo breaks the trend since it was stronger than the genesis). As long as then Wii U is profitable for Nintendo, I see no reason why it will fail, regardless of receiving ps3 ports. As long as Nintendo does its job, they will be fine.

NSMB2 redeemed, it's not a sales flop like suggested a few weeks ago. It has now definitely sold through its initial shipment.

In related news, it's not a flop as a game either. After beating the game twice I'll give it my personal seal of approval.

Better than the first?

A pretty good week! Nintendo dominates! Though I expected a bit more...

Should I be surprised by the Vita not increasing that much?

PSV should be around 30k. It did 33k (VGC) when Persona was released, even though Miku probably won't be as big as Persona, the bundle will help.

Blimey, with Sony refusing to cut the price of the Vita until next year I think it would be safe to say it's pretty much buggered tbh...unless there's an exclusive Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter or Final Fantasy title on the way that hasn't been announced yet.

I can't understand the decision making at Sony tbh, they ran away with the 5th and 6th home console generations with modest hardware and have struggled since joining an arms race as far as power goes with the PSP, PS3 and Vita. And going by leaks so far they're doing the same thing with the PS4 - if Sony and Microsoft have their next home consoles retailing for more than 400 dollars/pounds then they might as well not bother releasing them what with the U likely to retail for around 300 with a 2D Mario title as a launch title and Dragon Quest X on the way.

You'll probably see the U having an installed userbase between 10 and 15m before the PS4 and 720 are released, and if they don't both sell well they could very well end up like the PS3 did during the first two years of its life and the Vita now.

I think Sony has a hard time to differentiate itself from the competition. They can't really go the cheap, underpowered way because their IP's don't care hardware as good as Nintendos IP's do. Also, nearly all their current IP's rely on graphical fidelity. But they also can't be the powerhouse because Microsoft can easily waste a couple of billions without breaking a sweat to outspec Sony at a lower price. If Sony sticks with competing with Microsoft, Sony will go out of business but if they stop competing they will be the awkward middle ground console that has no real audience except the die hard Sony fans. They pretty much need a Wii like miracle.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Easily better than NSMB on the DS. Here's a list of improvements, aside from graphics and sound which are obvious anyway:

  1. Blue Koopa Shell power-up replaced by the Raccoon Leaf. A fantastic trade. I must be the only one, but I love the blue shell - so bad it's good. I was playing it last week and never realized before that you swin faster with it! And that you can stun Bowser Jr too.
  2. Mini Mushrooms not as often required to access star coins and secret exits. Also, much easier to collect from Mushroom Houses on the World Map. Yeah, that sucked before. I lost count the number of times I finished 1-4 to get a mini-mushroom. Nothing against using it, but they should be included in the stage there's a secret for it. Even if very hidden.
  3. No stupid branches that force you to defeat bosses as Mini Mario. Ah, I like this a lot. Well, it's okay if they don't force it, I can do it anyway.
  4. Higher difficulty. Not as high as in NSMB Wii, but still. Good, no complaints here.
  5. More and better gimmicks in the various levels. I knew it. That's what should be reviewed. But no... let's review the grass...

Nice to hear! But I added a few annotations.
