Forums - Sales - Japan Sales! Week 33(Aug. 13-19): Famitsu and Media-Create

Now that I take a closer look at those numbers (good numbers this week, btw) I'm surprised by the differences between Famitsu and Media Create. Yes, I understand that there have to be differences since they use different methods, but some differences are big, surprisingly big.

Dragon Quest X_ Famitsu: 536.133 / Media Create: 487.917  Dif = 48.000

Mario Tennis Open _ Famitsu:  287.874 / Media Create: 254.391  Dif = 33.000

New Super Mario Bros. 2_ Famitsu: 942.758 / Media Create: 912.597  Dif = 30.000

Persona 4: Arena_ Famitsu: 153.608 / Media Create: 176.476  Dif = 22.000

Digimon World Re:Digitize_ Famitsu: 137.546 / Media Create: 153.581  Dif = 16.000

Pokemon Black 2 / White 2_ Famitsu: 2.631.683 / Media Create: 2.644.459  Dif = 12.000

etc.

And if we look at console sales

PSP_ Famitsu: 18.836.175 / Media Create: 19.258.243  Dif = 422.000!!!

PS3_ Famitsu: 8.240.405 / Media Create: 8.378.234  Dif = 135.000

PSVita_ Famitsu: 849.295 / Media Create: 884.484  Dif = 35.000

Famitsu doesn't like Sony consoles.

Please excuse my bad English.

But seriously, good numbers for Nintendo. And Vita is saved I guess?

MC trolling us by sticking PS3 slice in between 3DS and Wii, lol!  What's the percentage amount for Pacman again?

75%

Add all nintendo numbers for a surprise ;)

I thought Obon is the week after, no?

Cause if it this week, then that a disappointing hardware boost!!

It's always like that.

And it's always Nintendo's software that rises during this week, they must have a marketing plan for it (or it's just cause it's more family oriented)

I think (saw this some time ago), last year's Obon was much worse. This one was actually quite impressive, remeber 3DS was decreasing.

DQ is doing very good. No comments on NSMB2. 3DS hardware a monster.

Someone should make a company chart just like others weeks.

Small increases all around... Obon is not that great.

Biggest one was 3DS - 5k - more if you count that it was still decreasing from the XL launch

Don't you mean PS3? 3DS dropped, so did Wii

MC last numbers

102k

This week

111k

Rule number 1, always go for the highest :) (I'm kidding, I usually prefer famitsu's - they cover more stores, and have a top 30. Garaph also uses it)

¿¿?? How do you know that?

Famitsu is always the tracker that has more differences if you compare with the other two trackers (Media Create and Dengeki).

I prefer MC numbers because they always give the First Shipment when the top 500 comes out.

I follow NG threads, and some key members always say this - I can't confirm that, ask there, someone should have the answer, but I think the number is significantly larger. Also, except for DQ, Famitsu and Dangeki really differ that much?

In old days some people even waited for Famitsu numbers for "confirmation".

Anyway... I could be wrong, as this is the kind of "info" no one really knows. I just trust more Famitsu cause I use garaph all the time.

Wow, nsmb2 still doing well, I wonder how the legs will be after obon? Good hold for 3ds hw, will the LL pass Vita's ytd total next week?

Off topic, but where are all of the 3ds' in the USA? I've only gotten a few streetpass hits on my 3ds. I get more in one day in Japan!

I read NG as well, and Chris1964 said that MC covers the 53% of the Japanese Market, while Famitsu covers 3.500 stores. As we don't know how manys stores are in Japan, we can't say which one is more reliable.
Famitsu was wrong with FFXIII-2 FW while MC and Dengeki showed similar numbers, and the same happened with Monster Hunter 3G.

Japan = much higher population density.  Let's say the same number of 3DS are sold in both countries, you'd have a much higher probability of street passing in Japan.

I live in a major US city and I get a street pass probably every other day or so.  I wish I could get more consistently because I love puzzle swap.  At the Zelda concert though, I cleaned up and got anywhere from 200 - 300 street passes!

It is the other way round: Media Create really likes Sony :)
