Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do you hate the Mega Drive? (or Sega)

Tagged games:

maybe about 20 years i hated the mega drive.. but now it's classic.

Around the Network

If one wants to have this as a focus on Sega, the company, and their history of consoles, I can do a bit of a reveal about my biases.

Along the days of Sega's console, I would be on the Internet, and you got the share of trolls out there. You had partisans who would go on Usenet, the Sega forum, and end up trolling about Sony's brand, and everything Playstation, taking a dump on Sega. It was sheer arrogance on how a newcomer brand would rule Sega, get all the exclusives, and so on. Anyone know of a dude who went with the name Omarichu or something? Well, he is one individual. There was also Peter Sinclair on the Atari usenet newsgroup, who would trash Atari. When you invest in a console, you end up wanting it to succeed. You don't like other people trashing it, and trolling. My being a single console partisan died after the Atari 8bit computer failed and I went with with a Commodore 64, and then got a PC.

Well, since all that, I will definitely have a bit of a want to stick it to anyone who is a Sony fanboy, gloating and so on. There is a bit of delight in my part if Sony ends up getting humbled. I say this even while I enjoy content on Sony platforms.

Any Mega Drive haters clearly haven't played Shining Force II, that game is legendary

First system i bought with my own money.

Will ALWAYS have a very special place in my heart.

Awesome selection of games, if you could not buy SEGA's classic games on other consoles, it would still be my fave to this very day.

And of course it had the game with the best soundtrack of the 16 big era........ Streets of Rage 2.

Still saddens me to this day that a true GAMING COMPANY was not supported enough by so called "gamers" when corporations started to arrive in this business.

@ JGarret............. Castle of Illusion was and still is one of the greatest platformers ever made.
