Forums - Nintendo - Ninja Gaiden 3 on Wii U is the "hardcore fan package"

Eurogamer

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge on Wii U will be the "hardcore fan package" of the game, developer Team Ninja has said.

It will improve on the previously-released PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, which Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi told Eurogamer could have better served fans.

"We left out some of the things the series was well-known for. We did leave some of our fans out," Hayashi admitted, adding that the Wii U version had given the team a chance to relaunch the game.

"We had this opportunity to put those hardcore aspects back in. It's kind of the hardcore fan package of Ninja Gaiden 3."

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions were Team Ninja's "brand new approach" to the series. But it had mixed results. Simon Parkin served up a 4/10 in Eurogamer's Ninja Gaiden 3 review.

"There were good elements and bad elements of it," Hayashi said, explaining that the team had taken on board feedback from the original version. "Obviously there are new things in there too, but we shouldn't try and throw out what Team Ninja is good at."

Eurogamer has already had a peek at Ninja Gaiden 3 on Wii U - an E3 build which lacked the technical fidelity of the original. But this was just an early version, Hayashi reassured.

"We had to drop polygons, characters, stages, play around with the frame-rate to get it out there. It was a really rough version. But the Wii U devkit has since improved and we're now working on updated hardware. The E3 version was not good."

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I played the demo on the PS3, nowhere as bad as people say.

I bet this will be showed at September conference. It is in the promotional stuff, Nintendo should be pushing it. Sadly, I believe Nintendo has a wrong meaning of "hardcore" if they think Ninja Gaiden will "fill" that area, which at first never needed anything.

I do enjoy a good bit of contrition on the part of developers who dissatisfy their fans

If they're making such big changes to the game, I hope they're atleast going to rerelease it on PS360 if this is the proper hardcore version... if not, fuck them.

Did Wii get that updated titles with Tales of Graces?

Different company, same situation.

So, in short, he expects utterly disappointed fans to by a brand-new system just to give the game a second chance. A really optimistic guy... Sigma 2 is at least one million times better than 3, how could they not realize that?
