Forums - Nintendo - Component cables jaggies HELP!

I bought a new sharp HDTV and some gamestop componetcables but when I plugged them it. It looked like GARBAGE! Jaggies EVERYWHERE! I put in MoH2 and zelda TP it looks like crap! In MoH it was blurry whenever I moved, and link looked like a tetris peice! What can I do? adjust the sharpness? is it the cables? my TV? The game? I'm to scared to see what would happen if I put galaxy in!

Did you go under Wii settings and change the aspect ratio to 16:9 and turn on Progressive Scan? "...it looked like a tetris piece!" seems a bit severe, imo.

Also, keep in mind that, component cables or not, you're still playing SD material on an HDTV. All Wii games will have at least some jaggies, and you'll have to get used to it.

no but this is BAD! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worse then before, I think the galaxy had great graphics. Nope not any more. It is on widescreen and 480p.

Turn down your 'sharpness' setting to minimum. That may help a little bit.  I play Galaxy on a big 1920x1080 display and it looks passable when I don't have the sharpness setting turned up too high.

What makingmusic476 said. SD on HD = jaggies.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Is there anything else I can do? So what I'm stuck with a worse looking wii?

weird my parents are having the same problem with their HDTV. The HD stuff just isn't coming through... can't figure out what they've done wrong.

As epsilon72 said, play with your tv's settings. However, it usually comes down to the quality of the upscaler in the TV to how it looks.

ok ty

Let me guess... You own an LCD TV.
