According to legendary Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto, the PlayStation Vita is a powerful piece of hardware but is struggling with sales because it lacks software. Sony Computer Entertainment executive Shuhei Yoshida also claims that Sony’s latest handheld needs more games.

Yoshida admits that Sony is having a hard time trying to attract third-party developers toward the PlayStation Vita. Sony is apparently trying to convince developers and publishers to bring their games to the PlayStation Vita. Are PlayStation Vita projects being moved to Wii U?

As we approach the first anniversary of the PS Vita’s Japanese debut, worldwide sales of Sony’s flashy new portable system can be described as slow but steady.

Despite an initial offering of what has been described as one of the strongest software lineups for any piece of hardware, Sony is still finding it difficult to attract third party developers to the Vita.

We’re having a more difficult time than we had anticipated in terms of getting support from third-party publishers, but that’s our job,” Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida told PlayStation: The Official Magazine in a recent interview.

“We will continue to talk to development communities and publishing partners and tell them why Vita can provide a great experience for the IPs they have and I hope the Assassin’s Creed game will prove that.

The exploding popularity of mobile/ social sector has developers anxious to shift focus to that  growing market, according to Yoshida. However, he still believes Sony can attract small, independent studios with the Vita and PS Mobile.

Nope, it's the exact same quote from Yoshida himself.
