Forums - Sony - Upcoming Vita games comparison thread - huge info dump (make your predictions here!)

Inspired by Spurgeonryan, I thought I'd make a thread about upcoming Vita games (since it seems to be a topic everyone wants to talk about), including some numbers and comparisions to similar/previous games from last generation.  Interested in what everyone has to predict about them:

  • How many copies do you think they'll sell first week / until the end of the year / lifetime?
  • Do you think they'll have a short term / long term impact on Vita sales?

So, lets begin!

Around the Network

I'm aware there's probably some other stuff I'm missing, but these seemed to be the main retail releases & I'm tired of typing it now anyway and heading off to bed, so I'm going to leave it here for now.  If you spot any glaring errors, feel free to let me know.

My own personal thoughts on this:

  • I wouldn't say there's a clear system seller among all the new games. The wild cards, in my opinion, are Black Ops Declassified & Playstation All-Stars. I'm not sure how much Assassin's Creed will do.
  • I think the EA sports games - Madden & Fifa - are going to boost the system in the short term. The Fifa game already out has sold respectably for a system with as poor sales as Vita.
  • Need for Speed could be another wild card. The PSP versions actually sold surprisingly well, and they were watered-down console ports. If this version is fully fledged, it could do some good figures in the long term.
  • None of the PSP versions of these games had impressive first week sales, so I doubt we're going to see them for Vita either. Many of the early games had decent first year sales, but continued selling at a constant rate for the next 2-3 years.
  • PSP had a period, November 2009, where it received tonnes of games at the same time. PSP sales increased at an average rate during the period, but the userbase was already at 53 million. Vita seems to be getting a similar drop of games, this time in October 2012. Will be interesting to see what all these titles do to the sales in the short term.
  • Silent Hill & Ragnarok are going to do quite poorly, in my opinion.

LBPV will do 120k FW, 400k FY.
COD will do 200k FW, 600k FY
SLY 4 will do 30k FW, 111k FY
Gran turismo, will not only be announced at gamescom, but will come out next september and do 280k FW and 1m FY.

All retail only btw.

that is indeed a great lineup

wild card: PS all stars does almost as good on Vita as it does on PS3. 400k FW, 1.2m FY.

Thats a pretty slick holiday lineup. And a really well put together thread

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Fifa 2007 is not the first Fifa in PSP we should compare the first Fifa in Vita with the first Fifa in PSP the PSVita version it sold already better then the PSP version and 3DS version and Xbox360

i will post my prediction later

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

truth be told I only really care about AC3 Liberation, im positive it will turn out better than Bloodlines since it at teh very least is running on the same engine that powers the actual AC3
COD, ill wait for reviews, those last games on DS were ugh and im not sure about the team
Ill most likely get SFxTekken since it is the only version of the game that even makes sense getting at this point. Im not quite sure how they will do. I think AC3L and COD can do a mil lifetime if they dont suck and not sure about SFxTekken

Ill tell you strait up right now AC is going to sell the most software andmove more hardware than anything on this list.

Its doing quite strong in pre orders compared to other Vita titles
