still the most used worldwide though.

Wrong. Way wrong. As of the last reported record of Hotmail, they had 369 million active accounts, and were in decline. Gmail currently has 425 million active, and are still experiencing growth.

Usually when you provide a counter argument you post a link supporting your claim...
Like this - http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/edwardbaig/story/2012-07-31/outlook-email/56616322/1
"Research firm comScore says Hotmail has 41 million monthly unique visitors; AOL, 24 million. That makes them the No. 3 and No. 4 e-mail providers in the U.S., behind Yahoo Mail, with 84 million unique visitors, and Gmail, 68 million. Worldwide, more than 324 million people still use Hotmail monthly, making it the top provider globally"

Okay, so your source just backed my claim up even more.

Thanks for that.

Its one thing to paste links and another to actually read them and comprehend what they are saying.
What your link is saying is that Gmail has most user accounts but there is nothing about most usage(active accounts). You know how PSN has more user accounts than Xbox live, but Xbox live sees much more usage? Well this is the same scenario. Just because everyone is forced to make a Gmail account when they get an android device to use Google services doesn't mean they actually use it.
Comscore (source in my link) is the biggest internet traffic measuring company in the world and according to them Hotmail has more traffic and user impressions wordwide than any other email service. Meaning it is the most used...

Did you even click the link? Did you read the gigantic headline?
"Gmail now has 425 million active users"

Look, we can argue all day, unique vs active, time spent online vs mobile...
I work in advertising and I buy impressions from Google and Microsoft every day and sit in on various presentations which talk about reach vs engagement of users on their sites.
In my world it's a known fact that Hotmail = most users online followed closely by Yahoo. As far as Gmail, they may have most "active users" but it's most likely they have a lot more duplication of users. (same user - multipe accounts). We also need to find what the definition over at Google is for "active". Could be someone that activated a gmail account on an android device and never logged in on the web after.
