Looks good for a linear game

Arn't at least 90% of games linear?  I would have thought a game would be more visually impressive if it was open world, but at least you got a reaction so job done.

I am filling in for ZaneWane

Zane wouldn't even consider it impressive as a linear game! :P

In all seriousness, the tech behind The Last Of Us is one of the reasons I anticipate it more than 3EYOND. Just something about the scenarios and environments that are pulling it all together.

For the first time since Jak visual spectacle isn't one of the major features getting me hyped for a Naughty Dog game, so I'd have to say the tech being used in "3EYOND" is more intriquing to me, with the amazing facial animations (Which the TLOU won't lack, but it's more stylised and not as subtle) and that brief segment in the leaked trailer where Ellen's character is running through the forest, which is probably more beautiful than anything I've seen in a game, aside from PC stuff.

3EYOND is definitely more impressive visually. Only PC titles impress me more. I meant as a total package, The Last Of Us just has a tad more of my attention.

Oh well then I'm with you.

Course you are!

I'm surprised you aren't more excited for Beyond since you loved Heavy Rain so much!

what need to be improved

anisotropic filtering

bad AA solution

low resolution textures

baked lighting

small corridor style environments

lack of shadows in certain areas

Predictability, it's a art on VGC. :D

Good read.

ellie's face looks weird in that third pic but otherwise its looking really good

Agreed. Besides Alan Wake and God of War III, aliasing is usually an issue, especially on a good deal of PS3 games (360's GPU is better for this). And all console games have missing shadows somewhere too, some so bad it becomes distracting. However, I'm not sure what he's on about regarding AF, it's fantastic in The Last Of Us, as is the environmental detail.

The lighting is also one of the better aspects of the game, so I don't get that one either.

I think he means that it should have realtime lighting like Alan Wake (at night) or something. That or he missed the memo that real-time global illumination was removed from Crysis 2, and expects that.

Straight from Neogaf :)

But yea it does need improvement

ok i learned in this thread that the game should be more open (i would really love that) and should be still better graphically running on a console. i absolutely can see that, i just have to close my eyes^^

i am also missing "ubersampling" and 1600p
