NO! There is no stopping this hype train!
I have another question: Is there a way to see the time spend ingame? :)
if playing on PC it shows on the steam platform on Ps3 i never checked but there is a way to check most likely as in most MMOs
Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn Story.
Watch this CGI trailer if you want a better understanding about the lore and history of FFXIV.

I never tried the FF MMO's, but these screenshots seems great, and as I still don't like the idea of paying for the game + monthly/yearly to actually be able to play it, when the game cycle is finished like FF11, your copy is worth nothing? Can't you log in a offline version of the game to play it alone or with local multiplayer? I'm asking this because of FF11, as I totally missed it and so I'll never be able to play that game? If so (never heard anything from anyone who played FF11), I'll probably never jumo into 14 . |
FF11 is still online (+10yrs?), and is still charging a monthly fee. There is still a lot of people playing it. A new expansion came out for it earlier this year.
It is these subscription that pays for maintenance, ingame GM support, updates, patches and expansions.

But when SE close it online servers, will we be able to play it offline? Because as I said, I don't like the idea of paying for the game disk/download + the fee, unless we can still play it offline when they decide to stop with it. Also, is FF 11 a good game too? It's online with PS2 or it's a PC version (don't even know if it have a pc version) that is still online? |
SE can do whatever they want. As it reads in the Terms of Service, they can shut down the game. For example, Konami did it with Metal Gear Online. Socom Confrontation is gone, and MAG is gone too.
You can try FF14 for free for 14 days, and you can buy FF14 and get 30 days free and after that you can decide if you want to subscribe. Some people like to subscribe when there is a new patch to continue the story, and after that they take a break until a new patch is released.
FF11 is online and cross server play with PS2/PC/XBox360, and PS3 with PS2 compatibility. I played FF11 since its PC launch in the US for about 7yrs when I was in highschool and I liked it a lot. I jump over to FF14 because I think 7yrs is a long time. I think there is a lot of casual content in FF11 now, but the graphics might be a little dated because it is an old mmo now.
