Orlando shouldn't be as bad unless everyone was told to step up due to the Olympics. (Which wouldn't make much sense for America but still...)

MCO is usually very easy to get through when I go.

Citizens don't have to go through the same rigmorale as international visitors, so you'll have a different experience.

Orlando is certainly much better than Miami, though.

I don't quite understand. What more did they say? What did they suspect you of? Terrorism?

And what exacly is TSA and why isn't it at all airports? Is it a newly created department?

Every made-for-TV movie I've ever seen has led me to believe that mistaken identity always leads to zany hijinks. Your story doesn't sound very zany OR hijinky.

Oh.

Have you already gone to Orlando or is that next?

So it all made sense now when I posted articles on TSA?

They all made sense to start with.

Security should be handled by the airports, they have every incentive to make this as painless as possible (and every incentive to keep planes safe... one high profile incident can have massive implications for the entire industry, just look at flight numbers post-911).

I understand a handful of airports have been allowed to privatize their security systems, hopefully these numbers will increase.

I tend to defend them against the more hysterical libertarians hereabouts, but many of their systems are grossly inefficient.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Shame on your mother for marrying a Smith.

The TSA effectively runs border control at all airports,  it's been around since 2002/2003ish... but it's constantly changing policies, piloting new schemes, etc... which means the experience will vary massively between airports. I'm sure they also vary their policies based on location... Miami will probably have more systems for checking for illegals/etc than an airport in, I dunno, Montana.

You also have to take account for other things... I'm sure they've had it harder, recently, due to increased air traffic for the Olympics... that stress could have lead to much of the rudeness we experienced (like I said, I've been through the TSA numerous times in the past, and the staff are usually pleasant... but they were literally treating people like cattle at Miami).

I don't know, Sam. I've seen your FB profile pic. You have a very "terroristy" vibe
