New Xbox studio to open in London

Microsoft will open a new games studio in London, MCV can reveal.

The company is hiring for senior staff to run the studio, which will sit alongside established UK teams Rare, Lionhead and the newer Soho Studios.

“EMEA is a key market for us and we continue to cultivate the best talent and focus on growing our business, with this role focused on the continued expansion of our Microsoft Studios business in the region,” the company told MCV.

The studio may be part of a new effort to add first-party free-to-play and online casual experiences to Xbox, with job listings hunting for those well versed in those areas plus familiarity with online, mobile and cloud services.

The team’s mission includes “developing successful new products and services for current and future consumers”.

The news follows the recent confirmation of new London studios for both Konami and Amazon.

guess no one really Interested about this, but since it said about "free-to-play" in the news,i guess Microsoft keep slowly to make XBL more open

A dick company without any continuity in its game development business. If they repeatedly switch strategies and constantly open and shut studios why would a talented passionate game developer want to be employed by Microsoft?

Mostly I am bitter that they closed Ensemble studios but also because they refuse to gain respect among gamers by making genuine hardcore games.

+1. Could this mean the other newly formed studios be closed at any time? Man that sucks for those employees. Hope they find a new job soon.
