I use 3D all the time on my PC, PS3, 360 and Sky on my projector to a 80" screen. It's awesome but you have to be careful to take proper rest breaks for your eyes so as not to induce headaches (which you should be doing anyway). If used on a good setup the 3D experience can add as much to a experience as surround sound in gaming. I don't think it's a dead end, I think to get the best out of it just requires better hardware than the PS3 or 360. Halo Anniversary is awesome in 3D and super smooth, it's a good look at what we can expect next generation. Minimum 720p 3D at 60fps please
