Forums - General Discussion - Mafia Round 44 - Ghostbusters!

@pezus
Linkz words are meant to be undermining and that is all.
Voteless is not so much of a consequence, and if he's treating it as such, then perhaps it's because he knows the spread already. Regardless of how unfair he thinks it is (knowing how many mafia) suffice to say, it is still my role.

@mario
Yes, I said that already several posts up. Nen even quotes it himself before attempting to undermine it.

-When I look at everything together, I see Linkz pushing for me to claim, citing my asking for nen's alignment. He witnessed me saying "there it is". And then my subsequent "I'm not actually a lie detector".

So why does he think I'm lying about my role?

The way I see it happening is that Linkz is pushing me to prove myself as a lie detector highlighting Nen's claim for me. He then asks for my proof. It is certain that he distinctly, even aggressively, wanted me to prove myself by scanning nen. That is a fact.

Now to run through scenarios:
Scum Linkz wants me to scan town nen (wasting it)
Scum Linkz wants me to scan mafia nen (to appear town)
Town Linkz wants me to scan nen (prove that I'm town)

Out of these circumstances, I don't see either of the last two being really motivational to his posts.
Why would he push so hard for me to claim when I haven't done anything to warrant suspicion in the first place? Other people have been suspicious of me but have not asked for the same proof. Linkz is also good at reading people. Looking at Linkz push for me to claim, there are a couple of options.

1Linkz is so certain I'm scum that he's sure I'm lying about my role implication of Lie Detector (not very plausible) and so is calling my bluff.

2Linkz cannot read me whatsoever, and needs my claim to help narrow his own list.

Earlier he said that I was scum by process of elimination, that being I'm in the "likely scum" category, (out of 8 players) against others who were in the "slightly leaning scum" category. So, what we have here is that there exists no evidence (citing his 'process of elimination' post).
That would indicate disqualification of option 2 that he cannot read me whatsoever, since he was at least capable of placing me in the "likely scum" category. This would be compounded by his aggressiveness, leading me to think a town linkz was very confident in my scum alignment.
This would make me conclude that of the options for Town linkz aggressively going after Prof, it is due to the fact that he is very confident and is calling my bluff.

However, in this scenario there is a troubling piece of evidence. When I soft-claimed a Lie detector, Linkz became more hostile. Coupled with the fact that I was telling everyone that Nen is my top suspect, and that my claim would lend validity to what I was saying, then the town reaction should have been something a bit more desirable, don't you think? It should've been something like "So, you're soft-claiming LD, and you want us to lynch nen, so then you scanned him based on something he said, and he turned up lying. What specifically did he lie about?" I mean, right? That's what I would have thought so that I may judge the evidence for myself.
I did not need to specifically say "nen is not pro-town", because I implied it with wanting to lynch him.
Furthermore, since I hadn't been on nen's case so much on day 1, it would also imply that it is a night action, yet Linkz seems to think that I was capable of acting during the day.
Based on this piece of evidence, I would say that Linkz had a greater inclination to believe that I was lying PREVIOUS to further input.
Looking at the logic, it would follow as such:
Suspects Nen, Claims power will validate, Claiming Lie detector, Nen was caught Lying -> Prof is a Liar

The last possible option is that he believes I hadn't used the power yet. But there is not much garnered from this possibility.

To me, the only possible result would be that Linkz knows Nen is Town, and is challenging me to either waste if (if not yet used), or claim it.

Also of note is that it is possible that the Bus Driver was able to be used last night despite SAK not being present.

Linkz, why did you not consider that I had already used my power on nen?

FWOMP!

"HOLY SHIT!"

"HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

"MY BABY! MY BABY!"

Tables, chairs, lamps, phones, EVERYTHING went flying. Outside, cars suddenly toppled, or went flying in an eastward direction. People went crashing out their office buildings, and sometimes the buildings came toppling with them.

The Earth slowed, and the left over momentum destroyed everything.

"IS EVERYONE OKAY?" I could see that the hotel was still standing. Besides a few bruises, everyone braced themselves and came out fine.

"This is horrible..." Someone left standing moaned out." The climate change, the earthquakes... there are millions of people DEAD. ALL OVER THE WORLD."

"Yeah, but we have extra time to find the ghosts before they attack."

"Oh, wow, that's really nice."

Everybody joined in for a cheerful laugh.

and yes Linkz, I should somehow get interested in this game... Problem is that once you start lurking it is kind of encouraging you to go on lurking, because you would have to reread stuff to find something to point out...

Just start with the present and then keep up.

Who were the players that wanted SAK to be replaced?

Although this isn't a telling if they were scum but it will have a info. that we might need.
Seeing SAK is a bus driver and this is a Powerful Role.

I wanted a replacement first. Modkill second. As should everyone really...

Linkz, I am leaning on prof's side here and it is really weird how you're defending nen based on past games. And what's the deal with you and stefl? You are surprised no one figured out "what" he was based on what...3 posts of his? Why so surprised exactly?

Interesting how we seem to have two seperate groups now: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4700866 . Nen mentions stefl last because he knows he is the scum in there? I'd like to think both FF and prof are town, and if so I think we have a winner in Nen.

Where is radish?

Why are you not liking that linkz is using Nen's past gameplay as a comparison when you yourself do that a lot?

I don't myself like to guess a person's alignment by his behaviour because it can be changed per game, but you do it a lot along with linkz, so why do you think it's weird?

For the third time, it's not nen's behavior that I checked back on. Behavior can change, thus it can be helpful but not very reliable.

Enough avoiding the thread.

Unvote
Vote: prof

I've already solved the puzzle.

It's you nen and mario.

ANyway, get nen to claim if he's mafia or not and then I'll claim.

There's something wrong with this.

You say you want Nen to claim if he's mafia or not, i.e. you supposedly missed the post where he did, but you managed to get across that post again, when you post later on this -

Oh nvm, there it is.

It's not like that post was posted just before yours that you missed it. Nor was it that someone pointed it out to you. So what happened?

I somehow missed the post, but then reread the last couple pages when I got home. I blame my phone and its small text.

-_- lack of timestamps...

Perhaps Mario will recall, but the time between those two posts was one minute. You're an incredible speed reader.

This is why I removed my vote immediately at the beginning. I wasn't paying attention and joke voted. Thankfully day hadn't started yet.

Hmmm... you answered this without even being questioned on it. There's hope for you yet.

I don't like all the talk about recruitment. Unless you are sure of such a thing it is stupid to bring it up in the first place. Mafia probably have 3 members left, which seems like enough. You honestly think they can recruit along side that, or do you think they started out with only 2 people? Either way, from the recent conversation between Mantle/ Prof it sounds like Mantle recruited Prof last night, but they wouldn't make it that obvious...

Also, I'm 95% sure Nen is town as well. Like I said before, it is easy to tell when he is scum. Just like it is with Stefl, but he isn't posting at all.

What's with you, Linkz and 95%? And no, it's not that easy to tell when nen is scum. He was serial killer and it only came to light later on.

Hey, I take pride for pegging him as scum while being mafia. I also carry the shame of growing overconfident and not following up on said suspicion.

Anyway, I'm certain Mario's reason for believing nen to be town differs from mine. But I have no reason to question one townie's trust in another townie.(most likely) It means he can concentrate on others that actually could be mafia.
