With the new PS3 Slim releasing, I believe the system could last throughout the entirety of 2013 as the main Playstation console. Some disagree and believe the PS4 will be released sometime in 2013. Some people have made guarantees that the PS4 will release next year. According to VGChartz numbers, the PS3 has sold more consoles with every succeeding year. 2012 may be the first year where PS3 sales are down YoY. Doesn't it seem odd to release the pS4 only one year after the first YoY decrease? Especially considering 2013 hardware sales could be greater than 2012 hardware sales if the Slim and price cut will be truly as impactful I think they will be. Even if it doesn't, I still believe the PS3 will have a one of its best years in 2013. I don't think its likely that Sony will release the PS4 next year when the PS3 will be doing so well imo.

I hope they keep another playstation meeting events next year just like they did for the vita and start building hype early. Looking forward to it

yep you are absolutely right. So if they do the same thing this time around

1. call in a playstation meeting event early next year and around march reveal it

2. go for a media blowout during E3, GC and TGS (they have many teams who are currently working on unknown projects. I expect some crazy good stuff from the get go for the ps4)

3. Release in Japan (and some asian markets) at year end

4. Release rest of the world around Feb/March

Nov 2013 together with X720. They don't want to wait. Sony lost so many $ billions by being one year later than Microsoft.

If I remember correctly Sony themselves projected 12 million PS3s shipment in the current Fiscal year so the sales are definitely decreasing. Next year could be down at 9 million shipped.

This new slim will still be produced for a good number of years since it'll sell along with the PS4 a few years into next gen.

Come on now my man real slim shady....they didn't lose 'billions' cuz they launched 'late'
