But she learned to block strangers from getting through. People she was really close to can still get through her blockade. She tries not to engage with them because she doesn't like to encourage the visits. |
Do you believe her?

That's an interesting question. Do I believe that she's telling the truth about what she's experiencing? Or do I believe that what she's experiencing is actually seeing dead people? It's not the same thing.
She's not a crazy person. She is otherwise very rational, very intelligent, well educated (lawyer), has never had any mental problems, and is not a user of substances that might cause hallucinations. Her one chronic issue is mild insomnia, but she doesn't have these experiences when she's extremely tired or anything. They seem to happen randomly.
The thing that makes me think she could be actually seeing dead people is that she doesn't like it, she doesn't seek to exploit it in any way, and when someone gets through she pretty much tells them to go away, though nicely. She's had the experience once or twice when I've been around but I've not seen or felt anything. I do believe there's a spiritual dimension to life and humans have a rational soul. So I acknowledge the possibility that there could be contact between those who are alive on this plane of existence and those who have gone onto the next plane of existence. But that doesn't mean I think it definitely does happen, I just think it's possible.
In the very least I think she's telling the truth that she does have these odd experiences and they are are not obviously or demonstrably associated with psychotic or hallucinogenic influences.
