With "interest".....like a loan.....because when you borrow, you have to pay back what you borrowed plus a lot more! Man. I thought I could get that one to work. Sorry 'bout that.

Actually the "interest" is only about 9% for the US deal, which is a better rate than most credit cards offer, and is significantly better than the Rent-to-Own interest rates that typically border on criminal.

For someone without the money to afford the console in a lump sum, a subsidized console offers an inexpensive alternative without having to go through a credit check.

if thats the only option next gen or they run this and hike the pay all in 1 prices high i wont bother. i dont like Microsofts buisness model as it is.. this is making it even worse!

Dude it's common sense that this won't be the only option next gen. I really don't understand why so many people think that will be the only way to buy an Xbox next generation. It just makes no sense.

if it took off well it could become just that (hyperthetically of course). i would hate it!! i always buy all 3 systems in a gen so if any where to do this i wouldnt get there system.

If they use a similar model for the 720 and make it global things would become very interesting.

But it doesn't matter how well it takes off. It will not be the only option. It very well could become the most popular option but it won't be the only one.

meh, in germany the big electronic stores usually have 9.9% interest on deferred payment and often offer 0% interest for several weeks/a month each year

the only difference I see here is that at those stores you don't have to pay a third up front and that you can choose how many monthly rates you want to have in total (6-30 monthly rates)

well, I'm personally not into that kind of payment at all - it may be good to buy a house or a car, but people imo really should make sure they can save up enough to buy the consoles/TVs/electronics they want

You don't have to take out a contract to get a new phone, you still have the option to buy it outright. This will be no different.

Nonono. Seems MS will do anything to avoid price dropping.

Yea they need to just drop price already.

However they understand PS is hurting and can make the extra until they have to drop price. They will follow when sony drops price.
