Forums - Gaming - OUYA Video Game Console - Fully Funded, More Units Still Available at $99

@Chark
How much power does your device use? Or is electricity free wherever you live? Can I buy it ready-made for $99 USD including a controller? Will people create ports of their Android games for your device to be played with an actual joypad instead of a touchscreen? Is it small and does it fit nicely into my living room? Does it come user interface I can navigate with a joypad?

If its games are fun, I will buy it. Otherwise going to keep to traditional home consoles.

I don't quite get it. Indie games are already thriving and freely available on a PC and everyone who are into indie games have a PC stronger than that $99 cube.

One of my bigger concerns about that thing, I don't need a extra box to either develop or distribute a free game if I already so desire...

And I really don't see it as a big concern for the "Big 3".

woah are they serious? they "only" had 10k of these 99 dollar packages and when they reached it they just increased it to 20k? no clue how you call that in english, maybe "fake shortage" to increase the interest and to sell more at the beginning because people think if they wait to long they won't get it anymore. and as more they sell at beginning then as more attention it will get because of high numbers and with that they will sell even more^^

You are perfectly right. It was dirty of them to increase the limited number.

It doesn't matter what this defense-league says, it doesn't make any sense. Limited is limited. But the OUYA guys took advantage of the fact that people are afraid they won't get an early console.

They will do it again, soon it's 30K and then 50K.

I'll be honest: They tricked me too into buying one yesterday by making it seem like availability would be rather limited at first. But I'm not angry about it at all.

Yes, they shouldn't have called it limited in the first place, but the more OUYA sells right now, the better chance of succeding the platform has. Furthermore, at $99 USD the profit margin must be tiny, so if they sell more, the economies of scale improve. And yes, they should increase the number again if necessary.

They just increased the number of available consoles again. Maybe they won't let it sell out at all for the duration of the kickstarter. The higher Ouya's install base will be at launch, the better.

Yep. Either that was the next bracket in their contract with the manufacturer or they just cut a new deal.

By the way, if it upsets you, you can cancel at anytime prior to the actual end date and will not be charged any money. They don't take your money until the funding actually ends.
