Forums - Sony - Analysts (and Pachter) weigh in on Sony's Gaikai Acquisition..."A genius move"

i learned yesterday that it is pr nonsense when analysts say something positive about a company. this is pr then^^ nah just joking...

in my opinion it is very important for sony to have this, with google starting an own "console" (even if it will be only for these smaller android games first) and other companies starting their own services as well anytime soon (i would say apple will have something like that in the future as well but don't know) it would be maybe too late to build somthing by their own and maybe much more expensive and it will be clearly the future. not to speak about the possible integration in tv's and smartphones to compete against google tv or whatever.

today i saw some stuff about microsoft technology i didn't know until today which works for some years now to stream games (they only used it over few meters but shouldn't be a problem to use the same techology with some improvements over the internet) so i don't really believe they need onlive or so which these analysts don't believe neither.

i wonder what nintendo will do. i read somewhere that every third prefers to buy games digital (i believe it was for germany but not sure) in some years i would say many would love to stream their games and if they will get the possibility on ps4 and nextbox (which isn't certain for nextbox) but not wii u maybe some won't buy wii u just because of that. just theoretically, reality can look different.

i think it was a good purchase but we will only see in some years...

off topic - how am i suppose to be pronouncing gaikai?

It's a Japanese word even though the company is American.

Gah-ee-kah-ee

Actually on their website they actually state the pronunciation is Guy-kai.

GAIKAI® (pronounced: guy-kai)

Is a cloud-based gaming platform that allows users to play high-end video games and applications instantly from a webpage or internet-connected device.

When in doubt, say Galaki.
