The biggest selling point of CoD is gameplay, in the form of multiplayer. If people feel that they'll get a better total gameplay experience out of the Wii U version, that version will sell better.

What I find hilarious is that you think that people wouldn't wait to learn about the Wii U version before putting money down on a version, and the reason is that we don't know enough about the Wii U version. As for "recognising nicks", I think you vastly overestimate the number of people who play it to that extent, and do so with significant knowledge of who is who. We're talking about a multiplayer that involves millions of people, and for which most of them play it purely for fun, without much care about who they're playing against. The core of players that play it to such a hardcore level (note: I don't mean "hardcore gamers" - that's a nonsense term) number maybe in the tens of thousands.

Let me guess - you think the Wii U is targetting "casual gamers", and that most CoD players are "hardcore gamers", right?

Pro tip: Most CoD players are more "casual" than your typical Farmville player, and as casual as your typical Just Dance player.

Pro tip 2: Nintendo has been pretty clear that they're trying to get *everyone*. Hence Mass Effect 3, hence Ninja Gaiden 3, hence ZombiU. They want to have the definitive console, providing games for everybody.

Pro tip 3: "Markets" aren't what you think they are. Perhaps try learning a little bit about business and the differences between demographics, markets, customers, and consumers. It might be enlightening. (hint: Nintendo's real market is actually the third parties).

I recommend that you go and have a look at my first post, that led to that particular tangent of discussion. I'm pretty explicit about what I said. And "the console of their choice" is a stupid thing to say, because unlike a lot of people on the internet, most regular gamers actually don't have a bias for or against a particular company or platform.

How long is forever in your eyes? 4 years? 5 years? 10 years? It will be interesting to see if CoD will make the leap to next gen that Tony Hawk appeared to be incapable of doing.
