Forums - Gaming - Console Locked Games. Is This The Future of Gaming? 2nd edit

as much as it benefits us consumers, im against second hand market as much as im against piracy
trading or selling games between pals and people you know is not a bad thing at all
Gamestop and Game and all the others making profit out of the second hand market is wrong
intermediaries should be avoided

Same old argument with used sales. I still don't understand why people complain so much. Yet no one has a problem of used sales for ANY OTHER THING? Why aren't you complaining about used fridges, books, or DVD's etc.? Why is this so different. Why don't you complain at ebay? So I'm the evil one since I sold my copy of MVC3? Is it because of Gamestop? Blame the buyer. They want the game as cheap as possible. Why don't the companies just open their own used game stores. And just do what gamestop does?

You have a valid argument with piracy. But not used game sales. The same physical copy is being sold to one person. It is not copied, nor kept by the original user. Nor should money gained by it, go back to the company. The company isn't the one who sold it to gamestop/ebay. Nor is dealing with the used item. Gamestop has to pay for the shelf space and computer organization of the used items and the final transaction to the new owner. It's the same copy. People make money from it, because stores like gamestop provide a service. Which the game making companies don't provide.

Account locking I see no problem with that. But how would this really work. The physical game is still used. Would it be some code that you need to buy? People can still sell the disc. And companies would sell disc codes. Which we do right now. This would only work if it's a digital copy. Which already happens. Wouldn't this be redundant?
