The game is also reportedly in alpha stage. So I would expect some improvement.
Plus this is Ted Price's baby, I dont think the man took it so nicely when the european critics ripped it apart. Don't expect this to go down so easy ;).

I've played through, and still own, Killzone, so I'd say that makes my opinion a bit more valid than watching some low rez videos online. When a developer manages to fuck up something as simple as the controls, you know there is something wrong. And don't even think of suggesting that its because I'm bad at FPSes.
If you want a good looking PS2 FPS, then Black is where its at, not Killzone.
Again, I played through and still own the game, and I know the Chimera had different appearances.
The thing is this new design direction isn't an appealing one, and is completely uninspired. Its as though insomniac is trying to make R2 be even more generic than its predecessor.

In b4 some one calls this guy out on Halo.

I haven't played Killzone: Liberation, but maybe they already implemented some important improvements for that game.
IGN: "gameplay is a great example of fine-tuned mechanics."
"It seems wherever Liberation can go the extra mile, it does. It delivers on all fronts, from a thoroughly engrossing single-player campaign to an addictive multiplayer component.
I feel confident we can expect even more improvements with regard to Killzone 2.
Liberation, I believe, isn't a FPS but a third person game.
Still, from what I've seen from people, they must have learned something from the first Killzone when they made liberation.
If was not for title above pic, I could not tell which is from 1 or 2. So diff aint that big.

Character design wise Halo is very derivative and uninspired. Hell, story wise too.
Shit man, looks like I beat those people to the punch.

Oh thanks, I didn't know that.
They probably made the right decision though, personally I think the PSP screen is a little too small and probably the hardware specs wouldn't allow for a FPS to truly blow away the user compared to other home console/PC shooters available.
Or the fact that it lacks a second analog stick, which kinda takes precedence over those reasons you listed.

Developers somehow did it with Siphon Filter on the PSP. It's kind of weird though in my opinion.
