Forums - Sales - trying to figure out digital numbers: Gravity Rush

Did you buy Gravity Rush digital or retail?

Digital 25 33.78%

Retail 48 64.86%

Total:73

As we don't get digital numbers from Sony/Microsoft/Vgchartz or any other site in the net (i think) and the change from retail to digital sales deploys more and more i want to use this thread to figure out the percentage of digital sales. I think GR should be a good game to do so.

We could calculate how much sales went digital.

So i have one wish for all readers of this thread: IF you bought Gravity Rush, please take part in this poll. The more people vote, the more accurate will be the calculated numbers for digital sales.

poll data:

digital 20 31%
retail 44 69%
sum 64

after western week 1 totals:

retail digital totals
us 36564 16620 53184
eu 23888 10858 34746
japan 80000 36363 116363
total 140452 63841 204293

western week 2:

retail digital totals
us 7993 3633 11626

total 14276 6488 20764

There's a thread that follows digital sales. Basically you check the number of ratings the games gets on PSN (because only those who purchased the game can rate it) and multiply it by 20, because some companies disclosed digital sales and they could be compared to the number of ratings and they're usually around that figure.

The downside is that I think those who downloaded the demo can rate it, so it'd be more of a wild guess.

Yeh its the thread in my sig. I have got some leaderboard data for some games so will try to incorporate them into a weighted multiplication factor, for now the ratings *20 seems to be fairly accurate for some games.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

I know this thread, but the problem you've mentioned is something what destroys it's significance.

And there are some games you definitely want to rate, some others not. This is a problem for the method of this thread too, but i think it delivers a rough estimate which shouldn't be too false. This is just one more method, who knows, maybe both threads end up with several numbers for GR, so they confirm each other.

What I do to calculate digital sales is to look at other users trophies and see if they have played the game. This percent then gets multiplied by how many Vitas have been sold in America. This number minus tracked sales is digital sales. My sample size is too small though.

I just checked on the UK (EU) store and the demo and full game are separate so it doesn't include demo's in the total, it has 265 Ratings so far with 4.90 ratings score (Out of 5 obviously) thats a high score. So 265*20 is 5300.

Would you be able to check if the US store does have Demo and full game as the same, as EU store doesn't? I can't check only have access to UK store.

I've never ever rated a game on PSN...
