Why did I not use repeating franchises? I wanted to see which IP were the biggest based on their biggest iteration (actually, I think that a better title). Take this thread for what you think it's worth. If you think I should have used repeating franchises, and that my list is useless, then so be it I suppose.

It's a good idea, Jay. I'd like to see a "Top Twenty Franchises" list that has the total numbers of every game in the franchise (PS3/360 only since it would be too hard to track every franchise across every platform). Heck, maybe even add the Wii to the list. For informational purposes, of course.

LOL, I remember that list. Looking back at it, it's always interesting to look at the sales of games from so long ago.

I thought about doing that, but decided not to. Franchises like Madden would probably be above Grand Theft Auto, for example, even though it's no where near as big. It just had way more releases. And that wasn't the type of list I wanted to do. I wanted to rank them by selling power.

At first I didn't get that list because the games seemed to be picked at random. However now I realize it's the highest selling game from each franchise. Pretty good chart.

I understand.  I guess a list like this is just hard to do because there are so many variables.
