I'd say there's never been a better time to get a PS3. They're pretty cheap at the moment (but may be cheaper). PS+ just got really good if you're interested in that service. You can buy a lot of the older exclusives for really cheap these days (Killzone 2 £3, Resistance 2 £5, Infamous £8, Ratchet £6, God of War 3 £10, Uncharted 2 £10 etc.) and there are plenty more upcoming games to look forward to (Ratchet: Q Force, Sly Cooper, God of War, LBP Karting, The Last of Us) plus all the third party stuff.

So yes, I would definitely say get one.

edit: Oh and about the online play, I've never had any trouble playing any game that I've wanted to online.  All the first-party stuff is still supported - there's always people playing Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 etc.  Any of the bigger titles (Battlefield, Call of Duty etc.) are all still supported too.  Depends what you want to play I guess.  If you were desperate to play Haze online, you might struggle a bit.  But I would advise you against it in the first place anyway!

So maybe I should get the one with 320 Gb hard disk, right?

But it would be better to save up for a Wii U... if you like Nintendo.

I don't buy any console for one game.

If all the games you want are basically 3rd party, then just wait for WiiU.

If you want quite a few first party PS3 games, then wait a month to verify if there will be a price cut on PS3. (I really think there will be soon)

OR just buy one of the used PS3s on craigslist or Ebay. Tons of savings there too.

Again, I'd only buy a console if there were four or so games I wanted to play and they were only on that console.

Oh no. There are more exclusive games that interest me, being the uncharted trilogy the one I am more attracted to.

Lol! But I already have one of those. I've had it for three years now.

Then just shop craigslist or Ebay for a used one that was produced after March 2010. These models have the internal redesign with smaller CPU/GPU, lower heat, quieter, etc. Can't go wrong and you'll save a ton. or just wait for the eventual PS3 price reduction later this year... probably $50 to $100 in savings.. IF you have to buy new.

I'll fix it myself when I get a chance, but it's a bit of an itch.

Meh I prefer Infamous to Uncharted. But still, the second Uncharted game is particularly awesome.

Either that, or buy the cheapest PS3 you can find and put a 500GB hard drive in yourself.  Whichever turned out to be the cheapest option for you!
