Forums - Gaming - Is it just me or do recent game endings feel 'lackluster'?

So these days during my summer break back hom in Australia Im ploughing through my massive backlog and cleared a lot of games already. But I couldn't help myself but think that quite a lot of games these days have rather lackluster endings to their campaigns.

The only games so far that I have completed that didn't have lackluster endings and had good fitting endings were Uncharted 3, Batman Arkham City and Portal 2.

Games like Mass Effect 3, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Killzone 3, Resistance 3 and inFamous 2 have had some rather lackluster endings.

inFamous 2 had an alright ending with Bad Karma (currently going through Good Karma) but it could've been better. Love inFamous 2 overall though.

Resistance 3 was an epic campaign and loved it till we got to the ending which I felt pretty damn disappointed in really.

Battlefield 3's campaign had some good moments but it was just confusing and the ending was just pure shit.

Crysis 2 I felt was rather meh.

Killzone 3 I love the MP but the campaign also felt lackluster along with the ending.

Mass Effect 3 I discussed before but yeah, masterful game till ending...

I dunno but how do ppl at VGC think of video game endings these days or rather this gen in general if you wish to discuss that.

I grew up with, "Thanks for playing! Try again on a harder difficulty!" So quit yer bitchin'.

*"lackluster"?

Anyways, some games do have dissapointing endings (FU ME3!) But most are alright.

lol. I don't even remember the ending of Battlefield 3.

Most recent game endings feel incomplete, it is more a to be continued.

I partly blame dlc..... They don't focus on making the ending great because it usually isn't the ending....

I'm with Badgenome on this one. When I was younger, I was happy whenever I got something besides a totally black screen with the words "the end" posted on it. Play more story heavy games if you want a lengthy ending. These action based games don't have much in the way of story so you're not going to get a very cinematic ending.

ditto

R3 WHAT A GREAT GAME, with a totally shitty ending, THE HELL? nothing came out of it NOTHING!

K3... well, game itself had pretty bad story-pacing, but the ending was kinda cool, and with SO MUCH potential!

Other games I played recently like, Gravity Rush - super great ending

Binary Domain - great ending

Uncharted:GA - great ending

Resistance: BS - shitty ending
