Bingo! Right on the money. I was actually waiting to see if someone will notice this. I mean the whole game is a twitch shooter ( I believe that's the 'correct' term) Player 1: dude I think I see a red dot Player 2: quick check on the wiiu screen if it's actually red and if so where it's at! Player 1: give me a sec..ok I think they are red...and lemme see..yea I think they are behind us...oh Shi....... @slimBeast: LOL no problem man :D we argue when we argue we laugh when we laugh..it's all good |
I believe a twitch shooter is something more along the lines of Quake 3 / Unreal Tournament, where the play is incredibly fast placed and it requires lightning-quick reflexes to get frags (i.e. the rail gun in Q3).
I've seen a lot of people arguing that Call of Duty is a twitch shooter, it isn't especially, but for consoles it's probably one of the games that gets closest. Even my beloved Timesplitters was a bit too slow to be a twitch shooter.
On topic though, I completely agree with you that CoD with the minimap on a separate screen is a horrible, horrible idea. Makes me wonder if this Nintendo rep has ever even played it!
Second screen to view map/etc for twitch gaming FPS?! HILARIOUS! Imagine playing counter strike, and every time you want to check the HUD you have to look elsewhere, you're fucked!

Scoreboard would be the only useful function for the Gamepad screen during a round of COD. Most people would probably skip it altogether and use the GPad Pro.......

This is more real..
If you are in are real war.. you have to do that to..:)
But it's like the pointer discusion.. some people like to aim and shoot.. some like to aim whit a controller or mouse..
| Bristow9091 said: See, I think putting the HUD on the controller for a multiplayer shooter like Call of Duty is actually a BAD idea, and makes it worse for Wii U players... I mean if I want to check the map while I'm playing on my PS3, I can already see it in view, or I may just have to flick my eyes a little to the side to see it, I can still see the entire game screen so it's not distracting me or anything, and if I want to check ammo or kills or whatever, that's so easy to do. HOWEVER, if I had the Wii U, and wanted to check the map, I'd have to take my eyes off the gamescreen altogether to look down at my controller for anything like that, and for the time I'm doing that I'm vulnerable and won't be able to shoot back at people (Since I can't see them on the screen because I'm not looking at it) so really, I think it'd be more trouble than anything, despite what Nintendo think... |
this.
there are games where the secondary information on the gamepad will be nice but a fast paced shooter like CoD multiplayer isn't one of them.

Agreed, in multiplayer, scoreboard is the best idea and even that is lame and redundant. If they can you the touch screen somehow where you dont need to look down then maybe they can do something. But in multi, the action is just too fast. It just takes a split second for someone to pop round a corner and bury a bullet in your head.
Also, your spidey gif cracked me up while it was loading screen by screen, I saw his demise in glorious slo-mo!
