And? Thirteen year olds aren't exactly stupid. I've seen an eight year old take apart a phone. Second of all what game was this because I've noticed a lot of kids are playing games outside of their allowed ESRB rating. The reason COD and GTA sales are so high is because parents don't care that their kids are playing violent games.

They were deciding between CoD MW3 and Max Payne 3...but anyway, my point is that not the 100% of the PS3 users are core users, many of them just fall under the"this is the strongest machine it must be the best" meme, and buy it just to barely use it then...i mean im pretty sure ive used my Wii much more than %50 of the PS3 owners have used their console...

Its quite obvious that 100% of the PS3 owners aren't the core. Like the PS2 and PS1 the Playstation showcases the latest formats and as I said before it attracts the tech enthusiasts.  The core are a minority of the PS3 owners, which could be anywhere upwards of 5 million to a bit over 10 million people actively. No one knows the numbers for sure, but the same could be said for the 360. The Wii's core is definitely lower than that and they aren't the COD playing kind. It's obvious that Nintendo wants those gamers because the profit Microsoft and Sony have been making off of COD is great.

I am in a funny situation, I am tired of this generation but I don't want a PS4 or 720 already, because I am still not tired/bored/sick of the graphics level.

I am tired of the high number of sequels, lack of new IPs, less risky proposals, homogenization of the games, mandatory DLC (sometimes even on the disc), etc.

But I don't think the PS4 or the 720 will solve that problem, it may get worse if the development cost go higher because the companies will be willing to take even less risks, almost everyone will be using the same engine to reduce costs and only the more popular genres (FPS, TPS) will have a lot of games leaving others behind.

I want things to change, improve, but I not so sure that a new generation is the solution. I can work with the current graphic level for some years.

Me.
This generation feels very long in the tooth; there hasn't been anything really exciting for a while now, and we've seen pretty much everything these systems can do.
Next gen cannot come soon enough. I want to be wowed again.

Yes this is how I feel. I think they need some things to tie in. Like being able to really get awarded for you Achievements/Trophy's. For instance your score can always be read but have it where u can build up a room with cool things that you thought where hard. Maybe if you get 100% of a game you can have a statue or bad ass fountin in you apartment, whatever that game wants to give you. I went on about this before but  they need your A/T's to be interactive.  SO basically a room to go venture through and maybe some area where your friends can ask questions for help. This I think will add to the expereince. I know some don't care about this stuff but it just adds to the fun for me. I would like to go into my bros. room or whoever and check it out.  also maybe the more you get the bigger your place gets. So the richer you get, adding on additions would be cool and maybe you can have different choices of what additions you want and what kind of place you want. Maybe you want to add a bar. Or if you have kinect or maybe you don't but you can add a tennis court but this you would have to buy. So you can add to your house with games as well. Now i'm going on but this would be dope.

lol it's funny how only in S.T.A.G.E. mind PS3 is the only console that has games to play.... yet to my knowledge xbox360 has a catalog longer than PS3 and more exclusive title... so by simple math you can tell that 360 gamers have still a lot to play at their disposition...

and reading the different posts here and taking in consideration that most of us are "hardcore" gamers... i'm starting to believe that they might push it to holiday 2014 easily.... if we still have games to play a lot of more casual gamers have even more... and if ms and sony are aware of that and comfortable with their current stream of income i don't see any incentive for them to move on just yet

on top of that ms is launching win 8 this year, surface, and probably a win 8 phone in 2013 or earlier... they'll also push oem win 8 distri on arm, tablet pc and smartphone.... there is no doubt win 8 will be a major player in their next box strategy... we have to keep in mind software is their core business not consoles...

sony is a hardware company facing major issues in many other corporate branches...

if their respective platform still have decent traction I don't see why ms would jump the guns because i don't see sony taking a financial hit on a branch that is healthier than the rest and ms has other priority right now... unless they aim for a launch before sony...

so yeah the more time passes the more it seems the next gen could be pushed as far as 2014 imo

The PS3 is not even 6 yr old, wheres the supposed 10 yr cycle?
Xbox next needs to come before 2014, Xbox sales are starting to go down, they are going to have a big holiday, but thats it imo...Sony are in a really bad position right now...

well launch of a new console doesn't mean the other stops....

well even with decreasing sales... they have a higher profit margin than before... so while volume decrease net profit might still be high enough for them to keep it roll a little bit longer.. to that the high attached rate also gives them cash from royalties... that is a financial analysis that only ms has the key of... but beside for satisfying us core gamers need for new tech...

i'm not sure the need is here especially concidering the gadget/electronic market major unstability.... between iOS OS X... android mess of fragmented oems... and again depending on win 8 penetration... tablets/smartphone/tablet PC mix match that will not stay as is... no matter what apple or other device fans might think.... 2013 and 2014 will see a streamlining of the market, now that most big players are finally on "par" (meaning they can all technically offer very similar products) and that might cause enough waves for MS to stay put to avoid brand canibalism... imo they should prioritise win 8 implementation... if that works well then go after the living room... doing everything at once might get too confusing... but 2013 is definatelly still my guess for 360... but depending on the numbers MS have in hand it might be easier/better for them to push it further...

Well lets not hope so. I think that it is to much of a chance of letting your competitor get ahead. I'm sure MS doesn't mind putting more preasure on sony and if sony doesn't launch 2013 and MS does, then they have the upper hand again.  This I'm sure has not been forgotten by MS, that launching early is a big reason for there success and in this case they have made out well and are in a good position to push out the next with out taking a chance of letting sony get the upper hand.
