“With Wii, when we brought out motion controls and introduced that as a new idea in gaming, initially there were people who didn’t understand it. Three years later, our competitors both came out with their own motion control systems,” he said, referring to Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move. He mentioned that they introduced motion controls as a new idea in gaming and said the competitors then released their own in the Kinect and Move, yet conviniently omits the fact that the Eyetoy released and introduced motion as a style of gaming during the PS2 era. So what I was saying is that if Kinect is used as an example for "Motion controls in gaming" why can't we counter his point with the Eyetoy? It doesn't matter whether Kinect is an Eyetoy ripoff or not and in fact, claiming it as being just that only enhances my argument.

People clearly IGNORE THE FACT Nintendo introduced everyone to this idea with the POWER GLOVE for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

Don't really see why everyone is calling it a copy...
1) They are coming out around the same time....So unless Nintendo secretly told MS their plans...They had to be in development around the same time frame....Which wouldn't make either of them a copy of each other.
2) From what I saw xbox smart glass is more of an app. that can make multiple devices work together. WiiU tablet controller is not nearly in-depth as the xbox smart glass is.
3) xbox smart glass goes way beyond gaming and more in line with Microsofts strategy of making the xbox a one stop all-in-one entertainment device.
No need to flame me...just my humble opinion....

You are aware that Nintendo had no hand in the design, manufacturing or release of the Power Glove right?

Sorry but your wrong, Nintendo beat all those companies many many years ago with the Gamecube-Gameboy Advance link cable, making them first to the market with dual screen gaming (and they did it like a decade ago). Look it up, read your history, you'll be a better & more informed person - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube%E2%80%93Game_Boy_Advance_link_cable |
DreamCast Says hi Look it up, read your history, you'll be a better & more informed person
Also i dont have ro read my history ive lived through all these consoles and owend them all, i still have my GBA link cable for gamecube, biggest waste of money i think 2 games supported it, both rather badly.

It's absolutely amazing how ignorant people are in here about gaming history. Nintendo was working with dual screen gaming way before there was such a thing as an iphone or ipad, before Sony ever tried it, before anyone ever really did it. Nintendo was already doing dual screen gaming, and the Wii U is a clear evolution of an idea, the gamecube-gameboy advance link, if you care to know anything at all. This was a decade ago, i'm assuming you don't know about it because most of you were in diapers back then, but look at the list of supported games on this wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube%E2%80%93Game_Boy_Advance_link_cable |
and sony was working on the Move long before nintendo every released a wii mote but nintendo fan assure me that doesn't matter and move is clearly a copy because the popularity of the application in the market is more important than when the idea was thought up.
besides, you're old enough remember the dreamcast...
and finally lolz@bold - if you profile is correct i'm the exact same age as you. took you a while to potty train i take it?

Microsoft, and every company, attempts to do this. You roll out tech and features for numerous reasons. If Smart Glass was just to block Apple, it wouldn't feature game integration with it, and look like it is trying to meet what Nintendo does.
Hey now... what's that screen doing in my controller?

Oh what's that, you play games in that screen that work in conjunction with the games on the console?

I know that this is a silly argument and all but... the almighty Power Glove says hi.
