Retro games I play online. There is a disclaimer so technically it's not piracy.
Games like SSBB i buy new, because I know they will last a long time.
Games like Madden I usually rent, because I don't play them that long.
Most other stuff I rent from Gamefly, and keep for long periods of time.

these days I buy when they are on sale. no game in the last few years save a few like skyrim have been worth $60. gaming sucked this generation.
I buy a bunch of my games (most of them off of online websites so it is cheaper), but now with Playstation Plus giving as much as it does, a majority of my games are technically rented, per se.
Also, Gamefly isn't $6 a month, it is $16.95 plus tax per month for 1 game at a time and $22.95 plus tax per month for 2 games at a time. Just thought I would let you know :)
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
I buy my games almost always. I very rarely borrow a game off a friend and I haven't pirated a game in years, I like to support the industry. I buy about 10 copies of the same game if it's published by Sony, just trying to keep them afloat.
I pretty much always buy them. But I also make sure that they will last for a long time, meaning that I rarely tries out new IP's. The demo introduction have helped out a lot though when deciding whether it's worth the purchase.
...and then there is the few games that I have borrowed from my friends which they won't get back (for whatever reson). Goldeneye and Star Wars Battlefront II are such examples.
I always buy my games or get them for xmas. I always keep all my games so I dont rent them.
